Hi Tony,

The 2~3 order of magnitude improvement is relative to the MB triggered only stat. , not to the partial streaming mode.

Cheers
Ming

Hi Cameron,

I have not been following the discussion about tagging with machine learning, so pardon my ignorance.

Slide 14 confuses me. My understanding was that we had in mind a proposal to extend the readout after the trigger in pp running, to collect additional minbias events with each trigger. This would give us minbias data corresponding to about 10% of the available luminosity. Slide 14 tells me that the tagging with ML will increase the HF signal by 2 to 3 orders of magnitude over triggered mode without HF tagging.

If we used extended readout to get 10% of the luminosity, there is no 2 to 3 orders of magnitude left to gain. Is that number assuming we do not use extended readout following triggered events? Or what am I missing?

Thanks
Tony

Dear all,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions during my practice today. I’ve implemented them as best as I can and uploaded a new version of the talk here https://sphenix-invenio.sdcc.bnl.gov/communities/sphenixcommunity/requests/d977bd41-6aa1-40ce-a194-e2cdbb82c8e8

Some issues that may need addressing:

On slide 8 I have the DCA projections from our simulation. I was asked to add the pointing angle resolution from our test beams but I could only find the hit resolution which is a plot we have from AuAu data. I’ve reached out to see if there is a copy of this plot from TB somewhere

I also removed the two slides on calibration work for HF-jet tagging for time. I made some small adjustments based on comments before this and moved them to the backup. I can move one or both back to the main body if people would like.

Please let me know if you have any further comments or suggestions and I’ll aim to implement them before my next practice.

Cheers,
Cameron

Friends,

Following the approval session on Wednesday and today's rehearsals (and considering also the many nice posters), we are in good shape for next week's QM conference - but we're not quite done yet. We will have second dry-runs for the plenary talk and the HF talk starting at 9AM tomorrow. Connection information can be found on the Indico page:

Thanks for the hard work that went into developing the material for these talks!

After some discussion, we decided to cancel the general meeting tomorrow. While we are awaiting news on the RHIC repairs shortly, those are not available yet. We will summarize any news we have on this and other topics on slides posted on the Indico page linked above.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in Houston next week!

Best,

Gunther and Dave
