Hi all,
Now that the rush of Quark Matter is over, we are excited to push forward
with the analyses of the Run 1 data. We know that many efforts are already
being discussed in the collaboration and it is great to see. We wanted to
provide some more specific guidance for the analysis kick-off meetings that
should take place in the TGs.
1) These should happen in the TGs and should be coordinated with the
relevant conveners prior to the announcement.
2) In order to allow interested people to attend and contribute, the
kick-off meetings should be announced one week in advance to the TG mailing
list(s).
3) A basic investigation of the feasibility of the analysis should be
performed. This doesn’t mean that the analysis should be done, but rather
that estimates of the statistics should be done and a initial strategy for
evaluating uncertainties should be put forward.
4) The kick-off meetings should provide:
--the names and contributions of the people planning to work on the
analyses;
--areas where additional person-power is needed;
--plans for MC, calibration and other needs;
--a rough timeline of the analysis (to be refined as the analysis
progresses).
Given that there are a somewhat limited number of papers from the Run 1 data,
we have asked the conveners to organize kick-off meetings for a jet
performance paper, the dN/deta measurement, the dEt/deta measurement and the
pi0 v2. This should allow all interested groups to contribute from the
beginning of the process. These will be announced in the relevant TGs
shortly. We don’t believe that this is the full extent of papers from the
Run 1 data and this list should not discourage anyone from pursuing other
ideas.
Best,
Anne & Dennis
