Hi,

This pilot program may/can lead to resurrection of Food Services in Berkner (of BNL). 

But today (their first day of this pilot program), when I went there sometime after 12 pm, there were probably ~30 people in front of me waiting for one or two staff making sandwiches etc.  I didn't want to wait and decided to go to McDonald.  I saw Yasuyuki and Rachid walking away as well :-)

Hopefully, they'll have more staff to give us better experience in the future ...

Pilot Program for Food Services Launching Today, 10/4

I have some positive news regarding food services for the Brookhaven Lab community.
A new pilot program will launch at the cafeteria in Berkner today, Oct. 4.
Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays each week, the vendor "The Artisan by Rollin' Ghost" will serve lunch in the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Sales and other data will be used to help us better understand what business model will work for the cafeteria as we seek a sustainable, long-term solution for future contractors.

Additional food vendors are being reviewed to serve food in the cafeteria on Mondays and Tuesdays. In the meantime, we will continue to book food trucks for those days. And food remains available at the micro-marts in Bldgs. 400, 740, and 911.
The Artisan by Rollin' Ghost will serve hot paninis, freshly made sandwiches, salads, grab-and-go snacks, and beverages. Walk-ins will be welcome and a link for preorders is available: https://foodtruck.pub/?id=11385.
I encourage everyone on site to make use of the vendors who will serve lunch in the cafeteria. The more people use this service during this pilot program phase, the better our options will be as we develop a longer-term plan.

The development of this pilot program required significant effort from colleagues across the Laboratory. I thank everyone who helped get us to this point.
I also thank the Lab community for its feedback and patience as we work to improve the food offerings for this world-class laboratory.
