Hi all,

In the software meeting today (indico link copied below), we had a discussion about the condor priorities for the next 1-2 weeks in the Quark Matter crunch time. For some context, we are currently throttled due to the large number of jobs being submitted and the limited number of condor slots that we have. The outcome of the discussion was the following.

1. Allocate 10k condor slots to the PPG02 sims which are needed by the end of the week in their push to have a paper ready by the time of QM.
2. Allocate 5k condor slots to the tracking seeding production jobs, which also need to start as soon as possible.
3. Allocate 5k condor slots to the calorimeter production jobs, which also need to start as soon as possible.

That leaves approximately 4k condor slots for all other analysis jobs. That is a very limited number in the near future, which will open up after these production needs. The result of this is that:

1. If you are submitting O(1000s) of jobs and not currently working on a PPG or tracking/calo production/development, your jobs will get removed or put on hold for the next 1-2 weeks.
2. Smaller batches of jobs need to request the correct amount of memory that the job actually needs. For example, if you have a 2 GB job for which you request 10 GB on condor, you will be occupying computing resources that we can't afford to waste right now.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. If you need significant resources in the next two weeks that do not fall under the PPG/tracking and calorimeter production, please add your needs to the spreadsheet on the indico page below. Note that this decision is being made to best utilize our limited resources in the push for Quark Matter.
