Hi Everyone

Here are the notes for preliminary performance plot approval for Cheng-Wei Shih at preGM/PCM just now: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/27224/

The plots are conditionally approved, pending on the following adjustment embedded as bold in the discussion notes below:

Jaein Hwang/Hugo:
  • What is “INTT hit counts”?
  • Conclusion: y-axis better use “INTT hits”
Hugo/Jin:
  • Right plot is not very helpful
  • Conclusion: drop the right plot and approve for the left and middle plot.
Hugo/Jin:
  • First bin after trigger has higher than normal yield (though nonetheless only 1% yield comparing to the trigger-crossing, and not affecting the main message): likely from INTT hit timing precision, such as fix threshold discriminator would induce a late timing registration responding to a low amplitude hit pulse
Hao-ren/Itaru/Jin:
  • How to quote timing resolution?
  • INTT measure hits in timing gates of 106ns (one crossing) wide, and therefore the probability distribution of the measured hit time is not a Gaussian distribution, more resembles a flat distribution
  • Conclusion: rephrasing that INTT timing is precise enough to separate bunch crossing.
Megan/Hugo:
  • Negative timing region having no content is misleading due to limited measurement capability in that region
  • Conclusion: start x-axis from -1 crossing (i.e. not showing the negative timing region)
Hao-ren:
  • Move the histogram to center bins at integer bunch crossing, rather than integers at the edge of bins

Cheers

Jin

Dear collaborators,

Please join us for the 3rd preGM+PCM and 194th GM:
  • preGM+PCM: biweekly collaboration-wide meeting series for news, analysis approvals, and discussion at an Asian time zone friendly time
General Meeting:
Looking forward to talking to everyone with the combination of the two meetings!

Best regards

Jin & Megan
