Dear all,

We received the following message from John Harris on behalf of the PAC. In addition to congratulating us, it lays out a charge for the next PAC meeting which will be scheduled in September or October: "sPHENIX must present its priorities for running other species such that it is sufficiently compelling to persuade higher-level decision-makers at the DOE" We anticipate having multiple discussions throughout the summer to establish a clear prioritization and ensure that we articulate a strong case for additional species running starting with a PAC strategy discussion at the collaboration meeting next Tuesday. Please see the full message below.

Dear Megan and Jin,

The PAC thanks you for your update on the status of sPHENIX after RHIC Run 24 and at this early juncture of Run 25. It appears that sPHENIX is prepared for a successful Run 25 and the sPHENIX Collaboration should be congratulated for all of its preparation and efforts to make this possible. For the next PAC meeting, tentatively scheduled for the September-October timeframe, the PAC emphasizes that, assuming the eventual successful accumulation of 7 nb⁻¹ of Au+Au data in sPHENIX, sPHENIX must present its priorities for running other species such that it is sufficiently  compelling to persuade higher-level decision-makers at the DOE. This will need to be the next step to be able to receive approval for any additional RHIC running beyond Au+Au in calendar 2026.

The PAC looks forward to successful sPHENIX data taking in Run 2025 and to our next PAC Meeting.

Regards,

John

for the RHIC PAC
