    Kin,
That is really good progress. Do we have a recent photo of the
magnet of the 912 floor that I can show to DOE when we
    are down there next Tuesday?
    Thanks.

Hi,

I was just down at the Bldg. 912 and I saw "Sonny Dimauta and Co." working on all the connections for the power supply/DAQ  Paul Orfin lonely
working at the platform ... and also Paul Giannotti telling me a few things and Mel VanEssendelft looking for D. Phillips and other people to sign on
the work permit (which I already sign) ...

I understand that :

1.  The 4 linear potentiometers were all installed this morning by Ray Ceruti / Sonny & Co.

2.
Sonny & Co. are making all the connections for the DAQ/power supply for the low-field test.  I've just called him again to ask him to make the 100 A
connection so that D. Phillips can put some "barrier" around them.

.  The not-so-good news is that though we probably got 4 hours' work from the Cryo group on Thursday, today since the Booster power supply had
problem, the works (including the precious Cryo group) for the CeC has been extended and so we didn't get as much work as from the Cryo group
(only Paul was doing some vacuum stuff ...).     I wonder whether this has had any impact on us ... as we'll have a walkthrough next Wed. (and I don't want to
delay it for the 3rd or 4th time !).   I heard somebody mention working over the weekend ??

3.1  A while ago, I thought that we'd not have time to purchase all the pieces to use the big SLAC pumps (and we'll use the smaller roughing pumps).  But
probably due to our delay (!),  now as D. Phillips/P. Orfin/Tom Tallerico told me, we're just missing only two Contactors to arrive.  Tom thinks
that we will have them in time :-)

4. Paul Giannotti told me that
(i) probably he has found two more bad strain gauge connections (=> a total of 4).   Since the junction box has been closed, he couldn't really check now.
The other channels should be good (though he only checked some of them).

(ii) he will come in on Sat. or Sun. to make all the strain gauge (plus the accompanying temperature) connections.

5. Mel and we are finishing the work permit ... We need to finish this before the walkthrough next Wed.

Critical path is still on the Cryo system ... Paul Orfin told me that there are still a bunch of small things to be connected/done with the Cryo system and their pressure test.
It's a matter of whether he can have manpower in the Cryo group ....    Whenever any major system breaks, RHIC will be opened and the Cryo group will go
to work on the CeC.

Let's hope that things don't break and the Cryo group can work on sPHENIX Magnet !!!

Kin
