- Subject: [Sphenix-magnet-l] < 65 K ... Plan for the test

Hi,
The outlet temperature is now < 65 K and the drop is quite fast … Not sure whether the drop will be linear or not, my multiplication/division tells me that at the latest (?) Friday, it’ll reach 4.5 K ….

Below is the preparation and plan for the low-field test (after I walked around and talked to everybody, Dave, Sonny, Joe Muratore, Achim, Jesse …) :
This morning,
(1) Sonny did and told me “The Power Supply leads are hooked up to the magnet and I left the Plug in the yellow LOTO lock box.” Dave put a “no operation” tag. (2) Paul Orfin told me that the Cryo group has installed the 2nd heater so that both leads have heater to avoid frost.
Thanks to all of them …

A few more things this week : --- Achim Franz has promised to move his cart to the assigned location before Friday. --- And hopefully Fred’s guy (carpenter) will move the yellow scaffolding before Friday, too. --- Dave would put the chain along the 5 G line around the magnet on Thursday.
ð Friday (Mar. 18) 8-8:30 am, we’ll have the “Magnet Review” by Jesse Fite --- the time was picked as he needs to go to whole day seminar.
************************ ************************
Monday (Mar. 21): we’ll check out everything (hi-pot test, voltage taps etc.) … ( We have the “Traveller” written for this as you all know. ) Depending on situation, Joe will decide whether we’ll ramp the current to 100 A on Monday or wait for Piyush on Tuesday;
Tuesday (Mar. 22): to complete low field test (if not yet finished by Monday) and let Piyush test his Quench Detection …
Wed. : may not or may not be needed and then we have to decide when to warm up in the slowest way => naturally (drift) to 10 K as Piyush/Muratore want to measure the resistance at 10 K.
************************ ************************
Let me know if you see anything wrong. The above plan has been in my our mind for a long time and hopefully it’ll happen as we “plan”.
Kin

PS: I kind of feel that the training of being “Scheduling Physicist” ~12 year ago was not completely useless … which at least makes me more confident in making up bogus plan J
