Pekrul had a meeting last week to discuss/list the specifications etc. and they've gone back-and-forth since then. In an Excel Spreadsheet that I've received, there are 30 channels for quench detection and 37 channels for the digitizers at the moment. 2. As for the extension work being done in the BNL Central Shop, P. Kovach told me on Monday that they've received the heat shield etc. from the Centrol Shop. P. Giannotti happened to pass by the Central Shop and taken several pictures which you may view from the above indico link. The expected completion date is still unknown. 3. As for the "Jack Support" (or called "Bracket"), J. Mills and J. Hock are still working to choose between (i) the Bolted version (with Al) which can be done cheaper at Stony Brook U. or free (!) at Florida State U. (though it may take a long time to be done); (ii) the Welded version with steel. Jon Hock is still working on drawings (esp. the Welded version) before the price estimation process can be started. 4. At the moment, we have 4 pending PO's: --- the burst disk (Cryo), --- Quench Detector ADC boards (Z. Altinbas/C. Theisen) --- VME boards (Z. Altinbas/C. Theisen) --- Power Supply capacitors etc. (P. Rosas) But during the meeting, J. Mills told us that we have some money from the Physicd Dept. now and the above items may be dealt with soon. Ed told me (after the meeting) that he needs to juggle between two accounts but we still use the usual account no. and he'll change it when he sees fit. Apparently, he'll scrutinize more on the purchase as he doesn't want to go back to ask for more money :-) 5. Achim Franz mentioned he's still trying to ask the NIKHEF colleagues for the parts for measuing magnetic field to see whether he can buy them. But probably we don't have budget for this according to Ed. At the same time, Achim told us that we may get help from Stony Brook's Nils Feege to help make the magnetic measurements, especially when he's busy in the safety business in Physics Dept. 6. During the meeting, J. Mills mentioned that there is a discussion to test a first module of the TPC inside the solenoid magnet and that module might be made as early as next summer. Roberto mentioned that in early July or so, he needs to take the He sub-cooler from Bldg. 912 to 1002 for LEReC. |
