Hi Paul,

You reminded me in our meeting on Wed. ... So I checked again.

If you read the strain gauge data in

https://collab.external.bnl.gov/sites/sPHENIX-Magnet/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2FsPHENIX-Magnet%2FShared%20Documents%2F100%20A%20Test%2FStrain%20Voltage%20Data%20%28Aug.%206-7%2C%202015%29

which we took while rotating the Solenoid (so that the doghouse would be at the top) ~Aug. 6-7, 2015,

all 28 gauges read more or less ~0.35 volts (or ~350 ohm).

But 5 gauges can't be read out during the low-field/current test (2016) as one can check in   "\bnl.gov\c-adnas\babar\100 A Test"
(our BaBar disk server).

You actually listed the 5 below in your email on Feb. 2, 2016.   TS03/TS80/TS82 read ~0 (or actually negative 10^(--6) volts )
and TS32/TS92 were not even connected (and therefore absent in the data).

At that time, it was difficult to "debug" as things were closed.   Now, is it possible to see whether any of the 5 channels
can be resurrected ??

Here are some photos of the pre-walkthrough condition taken an hour ago.

Kin,

Defective Strain Gauges:
  1. TS03 (bad pin M on connector plug J4
  2. TS82 (bad connector pin j on connector plug J5)
  3. TS32 and TS92 (likely bad connections on Valve Box J6)
  4. TS80 (likely shorted at sensor itself)

Tie Rod temperature sensors TT01, TT02, TT03, TT04, TT05 are now wired into the Magnet Power Control & Data Acquisition Rack (not Cryo Rack).

All Power & Control Racks inspected (EEI) and bar code stickers attached.

Regards,

Paul

Just to remind you of our meeting tomorrow (Wed.) Jan. 27 at 1:30 pm in the 902 conference room.

--- The roughing pump has been turned on since yesterday late afternoon/evening.    I saw Paul Orfin and his guys as well as

Rich Meier are making the final connections.

--- Paul Giannotti claimed that he’s just needed another hour.

--- I’m looking for D. Phillips to put his barrier for the power lead (on the platform), put up the startle sign and anchor things properly.

Agenda/powerpoint (https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1728):

Scheduling towards the cool-down/low-field test       Strain Gauge Connections ?       Pressure test/leak check (which is to be used for step 200 in the pre-test inspection Traveler) ?       Dave: Barrier for power lead/Steel anchored properly       Hypot/Impulse test on Thursday/Friday ?       Cut from ERL cryo line and welding ?       DAQ ready ?       Cool-down next week       AOB

Þ “Safety walkthrough” at 2:30 pm (Bldg. 912)
