sPHENIX discussion of the superconducting solenoid

I just went down to 912 and took a picture of the return yoke construction progress :

Probably still not much as one might hope … But you can see the 4 brackets or called “Jack Support” on the base.

 

It’s going on slowly and it needs equipment, technicians, riggers, welders and they are usually not immediately available when we need them.  

At the moment, Jon Hock told me that he secured the drill this morning and gave the lock for the key of the drill to R. Ceruti who (with his guys)

can do the drilling etc. next Monday.

 

After the roof change that we discussed in our last Wed.’s meeting, the pieces have been changed.   There are 3 pieces that are needed

to be sent out to be machined by Streck and only one is left to be scanned --- hopefully next week.  Then, Jon can send out the PO …

 

I will try to take pictures in the future as we have more progress and put them in the same folder here :
