Agenda and presentation
files : https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2914 Probably, since the management people are in the Project WorkFest, we've had a quick meeting, not too long more than 15 minutes. 1. I reported that Piyush Joshi, Carl Schultheiss & I met yesterday to discuss about the voltage tap scheme : -- We've been talking about adding 4 more voltage taps. But Piyush and Carl want to put a redundant at each joint such that we now have 2*4 = 8 -- We downstairs in 902 to watch the superconducting material being made with the copper structure. You may see a couple pictures in my powerpoint : https://indico.bnl.gov/getFile.py/access?sessionId=0&resId=6&materialId=0&confId=2914 Carl saw that the part with a flexible bend may move. Even though Piyush said that they'd clamped, Carl still thought that there might be a possibility of a moving or vibrating superconductor that may cause a quench. So, Carl is thinking of adding one voltage tap on each. -- Carl will draw schematics and give it to R. Ceruti’s group and also Henry Hocker (as Mike Anerella). 2. P. Rosas has reported: “We have started working on the sPHENIX PS, we are now working on the Regulator and analog controls of the PS.” 3. A lot of drilling/tapping (+rigging) in the last ~10 days. The no. of hours remained were reduced from 579 hours to about ~400 hours or so according to Jon Hock. From my powerpoint in indico: https://indico.bnl.gov/getFile.py/access?sessionId=0&resId=6&materialId=0&confId=2914 you may see 6 vertical steel pieces have been installed at 902 around the base. There are 6 more such vertical steel pieces to be installed. Jon told me that very roughly speaking, 2 pieces of steels were drilled/tapped in the last 2 weeks compared to 4 other pieces being drilled/tapped in the previous 2 months or more. 4. A. Franz showed his 2D Opera simulation. He compared the magnetic field in the center and outside the poletips (or doors), by changing the poletip/door thickness from 30 cm to 19 cm. There is virtually no change in the central B-field ( gausses in ~1.4 T and even the leakage field outside poletips don't seem to change much. His presentation/analysis PDF file can be found : https://indico.bnl.gov/getFile.py/access?sessionId=0&resId=0&materialId=0&confId=2914 |
