Rich indicated that there is more work to be done before he can start to work. He said Joe still has work to do. Tom

This morning Joe D’Ambra indicated that Rich Meier could work at any time starting immediately.

Agenda/powerpoint : https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=3135

1.      Before the meeting, Paul Orfin told me “We just got the plant back up and running after several repairs that were made.”   In Paul’s absence, Roberto told us that Paul et. al. tested the system last week briefly and they had to abort (to presumably do the repair works).  Tomorrow and Friday, they’ll test again and hopefully it’ll verify that the entire cryo system works without the “subcooler”.

2.      A lot of works have been done in the return steel construction in 912 as you can see that the drilling/tapping has changed from 65% to almost ~80% in ~11 days.  Jon Hock and others kind of changed plan not to install the Magnet Cryostat first but instead try to finish the roof steel work (ie. to raise to the top and measure/transfer holes etc.) first.  Without going through his schedule (in MS Project), he estimated that the roof work and the end walls can be finished around May 31- June 7 such that we can then install the Magnet Cryostat.  J. Mills cautioned us that this might create delay and he’s asked Jon to figure out the exact delay.  Ed O’Brien (and others such D. Phillips) thought that Jon’s plan was probably the practical and safe way (working on the roof steels without the magnet underneath).

3.      P. Rosas told me on May 9, 2017: ““We had the PS up to 2700 amps into the dummy load open loop, we will be able to run the PS in voltage and then current loop this week and into next week. This is all been done in local control.”   [  “open loop” simply means “bypassing the regulator”, raising to the 2700 A without regulation, which also means that 2700 A was not really exact. ]

4.      Tom Tallerico showed us a few slides about the progress in the connection/cabling work which you may find in the indco page.  The kapton/TEFZEL cables and Dsub connectors have arrived.  Frank Toldo is starting to connect the strain gauge wiring.  Tom’s group will be responsible for the temperature sensor connections.  They all try to put the cables inside the “Extension” before the “Extension” is raised to the final position connecting with the Magnet Cryostat in Bldg. 912.  They’re also working on the controlled document for all the connections.

Brian van Kuik is working on the PLC logic.

R. Meier would like to install the other two CERNOX RTD and they discussed with Ray Ceruti when they could do it.  Ray told Tom that they could in principle do it any time but they just need to coordinate with Joe Dambra.

5.      A. Franz said that they’d like to install their magnetic field probe right after the Magnet Cryostat is installed (to avoid having to climb up and down later).

6.      C. Schultheiss  reported that the PCB for his front-end board is almost done (if it’s not done already today).  They’re purchasing the components to stuff the board.
