1.      The first that I mentioned was that last Thursday (July 13, 2017) afternoon, Peter Cirnigliaro felt that our old staircase at the non-lead end

was unsafe and asked us to build a new one.   Apparently, and finally, this afternoon, you can see from this picture that I took (after the meeting) :

the carpenters are finishing building the staircase with the railings.   I’ve informed Sonny et. al. in the Superconducting Magnet Division that they may work on the Extension etc. Thursday morning.

Ray Ceruti last Friday told us that they “have completed the connections for the magnet and heat shield circuit on the solenoid end of the extension”.   Now he needs scaffolding outside the steel box which was originally scheduled for this week but due to the staircase, everything seems to be put off by almost a week.

When M. Anerella asked me when the Valvebox can be installed, I quickly said a month or a few (3?) weeks, because of the staircase delay.  Now, at the time of writing, I’m thinking that hopefully a month is an exaggeration.   I’ll talk with D. Phillips or J. Hock tomorrow to see what they think.

2.      C. Schultheiss and Z. Altinbas are working on the detailed channels and algorithms for the quench detection.

3.      Winston Pekrul reported that John Morris finished the (software) manager and Jim Jamilkowski has been testing it their lab..  Thursday morning, they’ll try to test it in the FEC (and PSI) with the power supply in or near the high-bay area of Bldg. 912.

After the meeting, P. Rosas told me that he’s prepared his power supply to work with two PSI’s.  Winston told us that we need two PSI’s, one for ramping and the other one for feedback.   Because during ramping, one PSI won’t give you a reading until the end.  If the ramping is like 1 hour, it’ll be too long.

4.      I showed the Readiness Checkoff list.   W. Pekrul, M. Anerella et. al. have made a few suggestions to change the list.  I’ve placed the current version here :

https://collab.external.bnl.gov/sites/sPHENIX-Magnet/Shared%20Documents/High%20Field%20Test/Readiness%20Checkoff%20list.docx

5.      D. Phillips has an updated layout plan with a staircase going to the platform.  But unfortunately, C. Folz didn’t approve of it as it’s occupied space too close to the ATFII and this staircase may stay for a while.   So, D. Phillips is making modifications.
