sPHENIX discussion of the superconducting solenoid

1.      D. Phillips explains his new layout (https://indico.bnl.gov/getFile.py/access?sessionId=0&resId=0&materialId=0&confId=3398)

as he’s moved the staircase platform to the Lead-End side of the Magnet.

The not-so-good news is that the staircase that he ordered will not arrive before Aug. 23^rd, which may even be the shipment day

and we may even need to wait as late as the next Monday (Aug. 28) to assembly the staircase.

2.      Ray Ceruti discussed with us about what needs to be done.  Only after J. Dambra finished making the electrical connection, can Ray

install the heat shield etc.   Ray told us that though the heat shield looks beautiful on the table, they’re difficult to work with.  It’ll take
them some time to install it.   The earliest that Ray believes that he may be able to finish is next Friday Aug. 11.

 

3.      The Cryo needs to connect the un-connected Cryo connectors at the Magnet/Extension junction before Ray can close the heat shield.

4.      Pablo Rosas has not finished the PSI ramping test.  He’s met some hardware and software interface problem.  R. Schoenfeld and J. Jamilkowski

are/have been helping Pablo.

 

5.      We also discussed when we may put up the roof-steel and end-walls and the magnetic field measurement equipment inside the Coil.  
According to Ray’s prediction, the earliest that we can install the roof-steel is Aug. 14.   D. Phillips said that we should wait for the other roof-steels
to be installed before we install the Magnetic Field measurement equipment.
