Materials (including agenda, Russ’s and John’s talks) can be found : https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7775/

  1. Paul Orfin reported that the Helium piping project with the vendor AET is about 3 weeks late but this is not a problem as they have 2 months’ flow.

  1. Paul is confident that AET will be able to send them the pipes for the works that they plan to do this summer.  It’s mainly to connect Helium pipes between 1008B and 1008.
Inside 1008/IR, Paul’s Cryo group only needs to connect pipes (~5 of them) from the west-wall penetration vertically down to the west-wall platform.   In fact, he prefers to start
piping from the west-wall platform towards 1008B.

  2. Even before John Haggerty and Russ Feder went to their slides, there was quite a bit of discussion of the schedule and the space on the HCAL platform that the Cryo electronic equipment

needs to have some space.   Paul/Tom Tallerico have exchanged their concerns with John Haggerty and Russ Feder.  Russ said that he’ll include Paul Orfin in that  Thursday meeting in 1008
that Brian Streckenbach sometimes goes.

  • John said that there is utility power supply that can be used to power the roughing pump (208 V).
  • Paul/Tom will talk with Peter Hamblen and Joel Vasquez about the space assignment on the platform.
  • When Paul asked, I said that Brian (since Dave Phillips is retiring in April) is responsible for designing the interface between the current lead and the power cables (eg. 535 MCM).
Paul wanted me to remind Brian that the Cryo system has a couple pipes that need to go through that area.  And (after the meeting and before writing this) I just sent Brian a few photos
(of the High Field Test) to show him what Paul meant.   And Paul actually also called Brian while I was still in Brian’s office.

  1. Carl Schultheiss couldn’t come because of personal reason.  He did send me email about the replacement of the half-rack that he and Jon Hock have worked together : “We selected the
exact model of enclosure and reviewed the placement of the box and how the cables were going to run. We also discussed the route of the water cooled bus up the wall and underneath
the deck. We made sure the bus wouldn't limit access to the box.”

  2. Russ gave his talk which you may find  : https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7775/sessions/3685/attachments/26705/40791/2020FEB26_FEDER_sPHENIX_Magnet_Instal.pdf  A part of it was
the decision that we made on Nov. 26, 2019 that we may move the entire Cryostat with the tensioners in the loosened mode.  Russ mentioned that they may want to use the screw holes
at the bottom of the Cryostat. In fact, before the Magnet Cryostat was moved from the steel box to the present location in 912, he/they have found a few screw holes not having screws,
which in principle may cost vacuum leak.  Russ has agreed to check again at the present location and take pictures if there are holes without screws.  In any case, Russ needs to discuss this
with people like Mike Anerella whether it’s OK to use those screw holes, in terms of vacuum leak and more importantly whether it’d affect the overall structure.

  3. John gave his talk : https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7775/sessions/3685/attachments/26705/40796/mapping_haggerty_20200226.pptx .   What is clear is that we’ll use the CERN mapping group
to do the mapping.  He plans to place the contract to CERN around Oct. 2020 as there might be complications.

  4. We discuss about having future meetings and it seems that “once a month” is a good compromise 😊  Specially, we would like to have Carl Schultheiss to present his works in the next meeting.

PS: I forgot to mention the interface document during the meeting.   This next shorter email is about this.
