Hello,

Today, I have been talking about cable trays etc. in 1008B with Brian S.,
Carl S., Tom T. and Frank T. At some point, we feel that we don't remember
the whereabout of
the DCCT rack (in addition to the huge Power Supply, dump resistor and Quench
rack).

David Phillips has got a layout that I uploaded here (David called it "PS
Rack") :
https://brookhavenlab.sharepoint.com/:b:/s/sPHENIXMagnet/External/ETmMAsNPjO9PsIvK14YchgUB73ZbTezdfe_s_Y_ho-1bTQ?e=1CEauH

So, I drove to the Lab. and 1008B mezzanine to take a look. Fortunately, I
found it as in the picture "2020082_130040.jpg" attached and Pablo/Carl has
confirmed "that's it !".

I took another picture "20200827_130231.jpg" which shows that C-AD has
already installed at least ~50% of the cable trays and MCM cable connections
there. ( Brian told me that
they need a couple more connectors to finish the job ... and have to buy some
more. ) This is more progress than I thought. Carl is going to visit it
himself today and Pablo said that
he'd pay a visit himself, too. It's better to inspect now and point out
anything wrong ... rather than 2 years later.

I've noticed one detail. In the High-Field Test, as one can see :

we put bricks/blocks underneath the dump resistor. But we don't do so now
(in the mezzanine).

I just called David Phillips and he actually picked up my call. He told me
that, as far as he remembered, originally, there was
some plan to put the MCM cables underneath the dump resistor and so the
blocks would give some additional space for that. But
at the end, the MCM cables all went above and we're doing the same in 1008B
mezzanine and so we do NOT need to put blocks
underneath the dump resistor. David claimed or ("vaguely") remembered that
he talked with Pablo about this before his retirement and
Pablo said OK. Just 15 minutes ago, I discussed with Pablo and he agreed
that we don't need those space (for cooling or whatever).

Kin

PS: There are a couple old and empty PHENIX full racks (useless or not
used....) in the cramped space in that mezzanine. We should probably get rid
of them ...
