We have taken the trouble to build the shipping restraint (designed by Paul Kovac) for transporting the Valve Box and it’s in 1008 trailer (guarded by Frank Toldo) :

We need to put them on before transportation as well.

Subject: sPHENIX - opening up the existing solenoid valve box in 912

 

All,

 

We will begin the process to modify the sPHENIX valve box and I would like to review the effort to make the modifications at 912.  Below if a list of items needed to make this happen during the winter/spring.  Let me know if we need a formal meeting. Attached is a picture of the valve box in 912 for reference.

 

1. Place scaffold (baker’s racks) on both sides of the valve box in 912

1. Brian to coordinate installation and a regular inspection

Take off the 2 large side plates on the valve box as well as the internal heat shields

1. Ray has experience doing this before, getting a crew to work and record the effort would be wise

Review external port connections to improve model of IP8 install

1. Matt’s group to do an external 3D scan and generate a model. Cryogenics to request.

Review the internal piping to design the new Coax line split needed in IP8 before the valve box is connected to the IP8 platform

1. Cryogenics to measure lines

                                                               i.      May request a 3D scan from Matt’s group. Cryogenics to request.

5. Make modifications to the piping

1. Cryogenics to make modifications and pressure test when complete

Close up valve box panels

1. Consult with Ray or the new crew that learned how to take off the panels

Close vacuum space and purge out the vessel with N2 to seal for eventual move to IP8

1. Cryogenics to purge out.
