Hopefully, this welding fix works.

FYI, we welded a seam that was leaking and we are beginning to pump on it to do another leak check on it ahead of the ceramic breaks coming in on Wednesday.

All,

Weld cover pass is complete and the vacuum group has started the evacuation again in preparation for tomorrows leak check of the H3614A valve. Image.jpegImage.jpeg

OK I will let our techs know and have everything ready for as soon as he is done we can pump with our station instead so we don’t have to swap pumps in the morning.

Ken,

After lunch was when the welder would come back.  If 1:15 is the start time, I’d assume by 2:15 we can have the weld completed barring any unforeseen issues.

Paul,

What time is the welder going to be there?  If we get the turbos on asap we can leak check first thing in the AM

All,

After talking with the welder, he can potentially repair the suspect leak in the valve this afternoon.  If that is the case, I’d like to begin to pump down the lines again and potentially preform another vacuum leak check on that weld seam.  We will apply the roughing pumps to the lines once the welding is complete using an Argon purge for weld shielding gas.  The hope is that by tomorrow morning, the helium level will be low enough for a vacuum leak check again.  The replacement ceramic breaks come on Wednesday potentially so that would give us about 2 days to try a leak check before we cut out the ceramic breaks.

If we are successful with completing the welding this afternoon, would we be able to put the turbos on these lines or should we wait till tomorrow morning?  Our weld meeting was at 11:30 so we just learned about the welder’s availability.

Thank you,
