Hello,
These heavy pole-tip doors are very slow to be closed and opened
(as I have seen it a time or two) by trained sPHENIX technicians
supervised by engineer(s). The opening/closing process is NOT
automatic at all. We need to manually unbolt them first and
trained technicians will then slowly and manually open them or
close them. After that, we will put back the bolts to fix the
door location. ( There is no chance that anybody would
accidentally stand in the middle without being noticed. )
I cc: to Jim Mills and Jon Hock.

Hi Kin/Russ,
Control of the Pole Tip Doors, do you know if this will be C-AD? I would like to understand the controls in place that would prevent a crushing hazard when they are closed (or opened) depending how tight it is to the adjacent structure.
Is/Will there be a spotter during this process, is there a written procedure as yet?
Are there any sensors that would sense an obstacle/object and prevent closure/operation?
Thanks,
Dave M
