Kin-
I am available for the midnight to 8:00 am shift if needed any day this week.
Eric
Dear Dave and Eric and all,
I am sorry to let you know that you don't need to come in this afternoon and tonight.
CERN Team discusses with us and they/we feel that they should do a thorough investigation to find the bottom of it, rather than
just replacing the belt and closing the pole-tip doors. Because this has been the 2nd time that this happened and they felt strange.
I have discussed with John Haggerty and he also felt that we need to give them as much time as they need.
CAS (Hoy Brendan) has promised to come back tomorrow morning to take off his lock. CAS doesn't like to do this in the weekend.
Luckily, this is only Catgory 1 circuit breaker so that Frank Toldo are qualified to be safety watcher etc.
So, we won't ramp up the magnet tonight. Hopefully, the CERN team fixes the problem today and we can close the door tomorrow morning andramp up the magnet and continue the 44-hour mapping --- I think we finish ~29% of it.
Hopefully, Dave and Eric can help us again on Monday/Tuesday ?! 🙂

Unfortunately, before 11 am or so, the mapper didn't want to move. After some investigation, Nikola Pacifico determined that the belt got broken (again).
I called Frank Toldo and CAS. Jeff/Aaron were here earlier doing other works. Frank told me that Jeff/Aaron could come back at around 2 pm to open the door.
In the meantime, I've ramped down the magnet.
I'll let you know how the "repair" goes and whether we'll continue mapping today/tonight.

Thanks for the update. Kudos to John H for the marathon shift just ahead of the NYC Marathon. I will relieve Dave tonight.

Hello,
I might hit Ctrl-Enter and sent the previously email immaturely.
As I said, I started before 8 am yesterday. When I left yesterday, it's about 3:30 pm and John Haggerty came in well before that time. Since we didn't find anybody who could man the shift after midnight, John sat through it and left this morning ~6:20 am :-) Considering the daylight saving time, it's 16 hours !!!
Now, I came in after 6 am to take over and I'll be here until ~ 4pm. The plan is that David Morrison will take the shift from 4 pm to midnight and
Eric Mannel will take over from midnight to Monday morning.

Subject: 10-hour run finished and 40-hour started last nightHi,
Just to jot down a note or two in this Sunday morning in sPHENIX Control Room 😁
- Sat. (yesterday) morning, I amped the magnet current from 0 (setpoint) to 4620.3 A (setpoint) --- should give 4596 A --- from ~8:54 am to ~9:41 am, about 1 hour 47 minutes.
- The CERN team started the 10-hour scan at 9:47 am.
- The mapping stopped for 1 hour or more. From Nicola Pacifico, the trolley (which moves the mapper) is a bit like a Van der Graaf Generator and too much charge caused a spike --- detected by their limit switch sensor --- and this caused the trolley to stop (his design). They then properly ground their trolley to avoid charge accumulation :-)
- From the output file of the CERN raspberrypi computer (outputFile10hrsScanAllProbes.txt), the so-called 10-hour scan ended at about 10:11 pm last night.
Then, the so-called 40-hour scan started at 11:13 pm last night.
