    Hi Kin,
This is another important milestone for sPHENIX commissioning.
    Thanks for the good news.

Hello,

Yesterday, we already went to the top field (4596 A) for the Magnet in late afternoon.

Today, Magnet test was slightly delayed due to blower installation and we started “testing” after 10:30 am.  Pablo Rosas & Ron Walker installed and therefore tested a spare regulation card (also from BaBar).  This regulation card has behaved ~the same as the other regulation card.  Difference in DCCT (10 V over 6000 A), at top current/field, is 7.66 V (4596 A, original regulator) vs 7.67 V (4602 A, spare regulator).

This test “proves” that we have a working spare regulation card.

After this successful spare part test, we re-installed the original regulator and ramped the magnet back to the top field soon after 5 pm.

So, from now on, the sPHENIX Magnet will stay at the top field for the FY2023  unless there is special request to turn it off (e.g., when MVTX wants to test or calibrate their detector without the magnetic field).

Kin
