Hello,
The Magnet tripped/fast-discharged at 9:58 am this morning (June 11) after running ~68 hours continuously. The last trip was on June 6 and we ramped it up, stayed for 15 hours and ramped it down for Wed.’s maintenance, without incident. Then, we ramped it back on just before 2 pm on June 8 (Thursday). It stayed there until 9:58 am this morning.
The fast-discharge seemed to be similar to the last one on June 6 as the quench-interlock-link was due to “neg-90-deg-offset-jnt”.
After talking with Carl (who doesn’t think that we can benefit from more data for another trip) and sPHENIX folks (that we don’t really need Magnet at this moment), we decided to just let the magnet be off. ( It’s not good to keep tripping/fast-discharging … as it could cause real damage. ) We can turn on the magnet (almost immediately) if we think we can benefit from taking more data (probably after we change or do something … )
Pablo: you may do what you planned to do a while ago during this downtime.
We don’t have a good idea for what’s going on at this particular moment. I will try to ask Piyush for some more opinion/advice … Please let me know if anybody has any suggestions ☹
Kin
