Hello,
After confirming with our sPHENIX colleagues, I started ramping down the
magnet at 08:39 this morning and was done
at 10:07 this morning. This is the final ramp-down for this year as we
finished the RHIC run yesterday and are in the shutdown period.
Earlier in the morning that I got a call at 5:23 am, there was a little
"crisis" that the Cryo Control Room was dealing with.
The vacuum was bad around 5 o'clock and the temperature rise was spreading in
the counter-clockwise direction to 4 o'clock ...
They called in vacuum group tech and finally it was declared to be resolved
before 7 am (by Ken Decker). So, I didn't need to ramp it down a couple
hours earlier 😅
By talking with the Cryo Control Room and earlier with other people, it seems
that they're fully aware of the nitrogen cooling (using E-lens compressor
etc.) in several days after we let the Magnet temperature drift up to
Nitrogen temperature.
Kin
