Thanks for the comments and suggestion from Nu and Xin on pre-proposal Fig. 9, and the selection of theory curves has been adjusted on the b-jet R_AA projection.

 

In the last draft, the curves were evaluated for the LHC energy and included a large uncertainty at low-pT region due to the uncertainty of g->bb jets component. Ivan’s group was contacted to update the R_AA projection for our proposal. However, at this moment, we will not have their update for our pre-proposal. Therefore, at this point, we are trying to find a temporary solution for theory comparisons of the sPHENIX R_AA projection.

 

Since the RHIC inclusive b-jets are expected to be dominated by b-quark jets (90%), we only kept the b-quark jet R_AA theory curve from Ivan’s model, removed g->bb curve and its associated uncertainty bands. The text was adjusted to emphasize the difference between the curves (b-quark jets) and the projection (inclusive b-jets), mentioned that the curves are being updated for RHIC energy and correlation studies will be used to clarify the b-jet origin.

Updated from last version:

1. The total cost is now $4.87M, including contingency
2. Cost and Schedule are updated with more balanced labor rates. 
3. All comments and suggestions received are now taken into account in the latest version.

The org chart and cost and schedule figures/tables will be updated tomorrow.

 

Please try to edit or send your comments by the end of tomorrow if possible, we try to submit the pre-proposal to DOE in next a few days (original target date: Feb 1, but we are running a bit behind the plan, I know everyone is busy with QM and other things)

Hi all,

Thanks for all who have contributed to the MIE proposal,  we have made very good progress at LBNL finishing up the draft. 

 

Now we also have a new for the full detector : MAPS-based Vertex Detector (MVTX)

Plan for next a few days:

 

1)   Get all inputs/edit by the end of next Monday, Jan 30th, final edit Tuesday 1/31

2)   Submit the pre-proposal to DOE a week from now, on Feb 1, 2017. (Wed)

 

There will be DOE budget meeting scheduled for national labs, 2/15(LANL), 2/16(BNL) and 2/22(LBNL).
