Announcement: · Jun 12: Encourage participation of working day @ tracking pre-collaboration meeting (BNL, room 3-192), to use the new tracking software for HF performance simulation.
News and Introduction - Xin and Jin
Key dates and events: } Soon-ish (in a week): sPHENIX nominal run plan and update all statistical projections. Expect 200B MB Au+Au in 5-year run plan } End-May: new tracking software (see Haiwang’s talk) } June: submission of analysis notes (next slides) } Jun 12: pre-collaboration meeting @ BNL ← please attend ◦ Encourage HF TG participation in the work-day @ BNL ◦ Focusing on using the new tracking software for HF simulations } Jun 13-14: sPHENIX collaboration meeting @ BNL } Jun 15-16: RHIC PAC meeting } Jun 19: sPHENIX-charged MVTX Director’s review dry-run (see Ming/Xuan’s talk) } Jul 10-11: sPHENIX MVTX Director’s review (see Ming/Xuan’s talk) ◦ Major review on both science case and detector cost/schedule } Later summer: MVTX proposal submission to DOE } Expect DOE review later in 2017 or early 2018
Xin: What was the assumed DAQ rate? Dave: Au+Au collision recording at a saturated the sPHENIX DAQ rate in the beginning of the fill.
June 11 -12: pre-collaboration meeting tracking workfest. Tony: Christof and Haiwang plan to start from June 11 on tracking software development. It would work well to have users of tracking software to participate on June 12.
Xin: what is the status of fast sim Jin: We had home grown fast sim module. Formal implementation of a comprehensive fast sim such as using DELPHI is expect after June-July reviews and in collaboration with JS TG.
MVTX project news - Xuan
Slide 2: Xin: When will be time line to update physics plot, cost/schedule in the pre-proposal and for the director’s review? Conclusion: Ask Ming offline since he cannot attend meeting today.
Thoughts from INT Workshop - Xuan
Slide 2: charm chemistry: Tony: does the alteration of feed-down in HI complicate the CC_bar cross section measurement in HI? Xin: Yes. May require survey measurements of all major charm states to get precise cross section measurements.
Jin: does Duke group has similar \Delta \phi estimation for B-jet correlations? Action Item [Jin & Xin]: contact Shanshan Cao for input.
Jin: Does gluon splitting of charm production could complicate this? Xin: Theory model used the Pythia CC_bar production estimation of gluon splitting Jin: p+p may be used to ping it down Xin: need higher statistics. Jin: we may require developing p+p triggering in order to get the required statistics for D+D angular correlation measurement.
Tracking update - Haiwang
Haiwang: previous efficiency definition could be biased towards higher efficiency due to the definition. Tony: should follow up offline.
Haiwang: wider DCA is observed with track with a fake silicon association. Xin: checking pT dependence will be important.
Dave: what is truth pattern recognition. Haiwang/Tong: best possibly do connecting clusters that belong to the same Geant4 truth track.
Jin: DCA width is about x2 larger below 10 GeV/c? Tony: still double checking the source, task of this week. Haiwang: suggesting large effect from charge sharing on MAPS.
Non-prompt D simulation update - Xiaolong, Xin
Plan: · Expand to the exclusive channel. Help on the tracking software. · Update estimation on non-prompt with new tracking.
B-jet theory comparison - Cesar
Summary: Ivan provided eight sets of curves on different hypnosis. Over R_AA from 0.8 @ 10 GeV/c to ~0.5 @ 20 GeV/c. Plan to make the plot and circular to the list.
Xin: Does he have light and charmed jets? Cesar: Good suggestion on charmed jets Jin: how about light jet? Cesar: will ask. Cesar: inputted 90% b-jets from b-quark jet, 10% from gluon splitting.
Discussion and planning:
Task list see first slides.
Data production - strategy for HF topical group. · Will share heavy burden calorimetry simulation in heavy ion collisions. with the sPHENIX common production · For tracking-only simulation, we can run our own production and take advantage of the improving tracking software and our connection to tracking software team.
Tony: what will be required from tracking group? Jin: in priority and also in readiness: 1) DCA VS pT that represent the best understanding of the silicon tracker, e.g. ladder geometry and charge sharing, etc. 2) update performance plot in central Au+Au simulation with new patter recognition software

Dear All,
Thank you all for filling out the doodle poll. Based on the results, fortunately, we can have our May TG meeting on May 15 (Monday) 12pm (BNL time). Sorry that it was listed only as a one-hour meeting. I think the meeting will run for probably 1.5-2 hours.
Please find the proposed meeting agenda and the BlueJeans connection information from the following link:
Looking forward to a productive discussion on Monday with you. Thanks and Best Regards
Jin and Xin
