Hi, Ross

Follow up on today’s discussion, here is my suggestion on simplifying simulation set for the inner tracklet projection studies: swap out TPC and replace it with a backhole at the target projection radius:

https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macrosIDTF/blob/TPC_Projection_Test/macros/g4simulations/G4_Tracking.C

It is easier to access it by direct checkout this branch at the Inner Tracker Task Force’s macro repository:

https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macrosIDTF/tree/TPC_Projection_Test

In which the Fun4All_G4_sPHENIX.C macro is also updated to disable calorimeters in the simulation.

On top of G4_Tracking.C macro, it defines a single radius to place the blackhole, default is

double projection_target_radius = 30; //cm,  target projection radius

Before this radius, there are inner field cage and TPC Ne+CF4 gas to simulate for the multiple scattering.

Once a track reach projection_target_radius, it is stopped and leaves a single hit at that radius = projection_target_radius in the G4Hit_SVTX container. Rarely, you can also get more hits due to secondary productions on INTT and MAPS. But the hit from the primary track in the blackhole always has track_ID = 1. A simple debug output is also turned on in this branch to allow inspecting the hits in G4Hit_SVTX, e.g. the first event has one hit in G4Hit_SVTX:

[jinhuang@rcas2065 macros]$ root G4sPHENIX.root_DSTReader.root

root [2] T->Show(0)

======> EVENT:0

n_G4HIT_SVTX    = 1

G4HIT_SVTX      = 1

G4HIT_SVTX.fUniqueID = 0

G4HIT_SVTX.fBits = 50331648

G4HIT_SVTX.x[2] = 29.496548 , 29.506430

G4HIT_SVTX.y[2] = -5.472991 , -5.474555

G4HIT_SVTX.z[2] = -9.340229 , -9.342841

G4HIT_SVTX.t[2] = 1.035051 , 1.035396

G4HIT_SVTX.hitid = 30064771073

G4HIT_SVTX.trackid = 1    <- this is how to make sure this hit come from the primary particle

……

n_PHG4Particle  = 1

PHG4Particle    = 1

PHG4Particle.fUniqueID = 0

PHG4Particle.fBits = 50331648

PHG4Particle.fname = pi-

PHG4Particle.fpid = -211

PHG4Particle.fpx = 3.36883

PHG4Particle.fpy = -0.691758

PHG4Particle.fpz = -0.897265

PHG4Particle.barcode = -1

PHG4Particle.trkid = 1

PHG4Particle.vtxid = 1

PHG4Particle.parentid = 0

PHG4Particle.primaryid = 1

PHG4Particle.fe = 3.55698

….

The simulation is lighting fast, running at 100-1k Hz tracks.

Hope it would be useful to your studies.

Cheers

Jin

Subject: Next Meeting of the Inner Tracker Task Force

Hi Everybody,

tomorrow we will have the next meeting of the Inner Tracker Task Force.

The main topics we still need to discuss are:

1) Wrapping up the study of the extrapolation precision from the INTT to the TPC (Ross and Molly)

2) Final plots regrding the pp vertexing (Sookhyun)

3) status of the INTT readout electronics simulation (Jin and Rachid)

The indico page, bluejeans link and google doc can be found here:

See you tomorrow!

   Christof
