Hi all,

While taking to a few, I realized that I didn’t make it clear about the time split. Since we joined the TB late, we were originally scheduled for the “Evening shifts,  6PM ~ 6AM”.

So more likely we could be in the following shift schedules:

  1. 7PM – 7AM/next morning; or
  2. 12mid-night – 12 noon/next day

Anyway, we are asked to take 24hr data if possible, parasitically with Atalas group. We are using two different room, and they are upstream of us, mostly 120GeV high intensity proton beams.

Any preference?

Cheers,

Ming

Subject: FW: Test Beam May 20 8am - May 25 8am

Hi all,

Here is an update on the Fermilab TB run, May 20 8am - May 25 8am.

I had a follow-up discussion with Manday about safety training and ORC review:

  • Safety training class on Wed 5/15, Time/Location TBD
  • Telescope ORC review on Thur 5/16, Time TBD

Time split options:

  1. 7am-7pm (or 8-8)
  2. Noon-midnight

I don’t have strong preference, but if you do, please let me know. Given some people are goging to work on E1039 also, maybe Noon-midnight work better for some of you?

Cast your preference here, https://doodle.com/poll/bvqvn8qzpwy5u8w3

Travels – please arrive on Tue 5/14 (or early if possible) if you need to take the training class on Wed.

Housing options:

  1. On-stie Fermilab: low cost, but could be difficulty for this time as there are many summer students are coming,

https://get-connected.fnal.gov/housing-request/

  1. Off-site hotel:   there are many options.

Kun recommend the Residence Inn Naperville/Warrenville, this link should
work and give you a $80/night rate:
http://www.marriott.com/meeting-event-hotels/group-corporate-travel/groupCorp.mi?resLinkData=Fermilab%5eFI6%60CHINV%60&app=resvlink&stop_mobi=yes

For LANL folks – email from Kun,

Don't book through Concur - Fermilab has negotiated rates that are better
than what you can get through Concur.

Cheers,

Hi Ming, Sho, Jessica, and Vallary,

I have talked to you all individually, but this email serves to put you guys in touch with each other as you’ll be sharing beam time.

The current plan is:

Beam is off at 8am on May 11. Any installation and trainings should be done May 13 – May 17. Ming, Jessica’s setup is already ORCed and ready to go. I do not believe any of her people need training. As soon as you know your arrival dates, let me know and I’ll schedule the Practical factors training. Evan will be in contact with you to get the ORC paperwork done shortly.

Each experiment gets 12 hours where they are primary. As primary, you decide on the beam energy, intensity, and when to do controlled accesses. The other group can take data, but must clear accesses with the primary.

On the calendar, before this reduced running, Jessica’s group was primary during the day and Ming’s group was primary at night. Where this split occurs we can discuss. Usually groups go from 7am – 7pm  or 8am – 8pm, but I do have a group trying noon to midnight and midnight to noon. I would still like you both to be able to run 24 hours per day to take advantage of all the beam possible. I suggest the midnight to noon/noon to midnight split, but am open to negotiating this.

You are the first groups to start up after they are off for 9 days. While they will do their best, it is still possible that beam will not be available at 8am on Monday. The accelerator does plan to call in people to fix things should they go down during the 5 day on period, but it still possible to lose beam during that time. If we lose something on the order of a day – the accelerator is prepared to run past 8am on Saturday to make up for it.

Please let me know your travel plans as soon as possible. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have as well.

Thanks,

Mandy
