This is not going to be available on the website, since it’s special for us. As soon as possible, please send the names of anyone who needs this, so Joel can add them to the roster. We typically use anywhere from 100k to 1M events per 4 second spill, but can go lower when we're debugging. It sounds like we'll be able to find something that will work for both of us. Hi Jessica and Mandy, We also prefer to have 7pm/7am split. Considering possible parasitic data taking, here are our telescope parameters: For sPHENIX MVTX silicon pixel telescope – we would like to get 120GeV proton beam at 10~20kHz. Our system can handle higher rate, up to ~$100kHz. Our detector sensor size is 1.5cm (H) x 27cm (W, 3 x 9 chips). We plan to take data with beam spot size ~ 1cm x 2 cm, with typical trigger rate ~15kHz. What is your beam requirement for ATLAS work? Hi Mandy, Sounds good, I will inform my group about safety training on Wed and ORC review on Thursday. Jessica – do you have preference about the time split? I will let you know what other people prefer (as several of them are also working on other projects at Fermilab). That usually works better for the training group. You should talk with Jessica from the other group. I’m not particular about what the split is, but do want it set up before you all arrive. And please do plan to run 24 hours anyways if possible. Thanks, Mandy Hi Mandy, Thanks for your update. I will discuss the run time split Noon-midnight with sPHENIX MVTX group and get back to you. Last year we didn 6AM-6PM split. We will be ready for ORC review on Thursday 5/16. Do you think you can arrange the safety training class on the same day or early on Wed 5/15? Most of us will arrive on Tuesday 5/14. The current plan is: Beam is off at 8am on May 11. Any installation and trainings should be done May 13 – May 17. Ming, Jessica’s setup is already ORCed and ready to go. I do not believe any of her people need training. As soon as you know your arrival dates, let me know and I’ll schedule the Practical factors training. Evan will be in contact with you to get the ORC paperwork done shortly. Each experiment gets 12 hours where they are primary. As primary, you decide on the beam energy, intensity, and when to do controlled accesses. The other group can take data, but must clear accesses with the primary. On the calendar, before this reduced running, Jessica’s group was primary during the day and Ming’s group was primary at night. Where this split occurs we can discuss. Usually groups go from 7am – 7pm or 8am – 8pm, but I do have a group trying noon to midnight and midnight to noon. I would still like you both to be able to run 24 hours per day to take advantage of all the beam possible. I suggest the midnight to noon/noon to midnight split, but am open to negotiating this. You are the first groups to start up after they are off for 9 days. While they will do their best, it is still possible that beam will not be available at 8am on Monday. The accelerator does plan to call in people to fix things should they go down during the 5 day on period, but it still possible to lose beam during that time. If we lose something on the order of a day – the accelerator is prepared to run past 8am on Saturday to make up for it. Please let me know your travel plans as soon as possible. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have as well. Thanks, Mandy
