FYI,

We have discussed that this is a great opportunity for sPHENIX MVTX folks for training and also help us to better understand the system operation requirements.

We already have people from MIT, LBNL, CCNU, UT-A et al. actively working on the ITS commissioning, either on-site or off-site.

The on-going ITS commissioning will continue to ~May 2020.

Cheers,

Ming

Dear Colleagues,

starting from the present week we are finally operating the detector 24h/7d.

It is now fundamental to grant continuos shifter presence in control room.

Next week (w28) is already fully booked, while for week 29 we do have

quite a number of slots unassigned. I would gently ask you to proceed

as soon as possible with shift booking, starting from the ones closer in time.

As a reminder, we will have three crews rotating during the 24h (Morning

7:00-15:00, Afternoon 15:00-23:00, Night 23:00-7:00). Each crew is composed

by two shifters; a shift leader and system experts are always remotely reachable.

A shift block is composed by two consecutive Morning shifts, two Afternoon shifts

and two Night shifts over 6 days, as done during the ALICE data-taking.

You can find:

 - the booking calendar at the following link:

As written in this second link, to reserve a shift block send a message to the

mail address alice-its-shift-booking AT cern.ch indicating the starting date of the

block, the name, the personal e-mail address and possibly a cellphone number.

A mail containing all the details about the shift itself (communication channels,

instructions, etc.) will be sent to each shifter.

Best regards,

   Domenico

      for the Commissioning Coordination team.

Dear Colleagues,

As presented at various occasions during ITS related meetings [1], we will have an extensive campaign of on-surface commissioning in order to prepare the new ITS for operation.  As part of this campaign we've started to have shifts to safely operate the detector.

Please join us in this effort by booking shifts and use this occasion to get involved early on and trained for expert work when we start operating the detector in the cavern. Further information can be found at [2].

Best regards,
Felix
