Hi Ed,

At last stave production meeting with CERN on 3/12, they reported:

  1. 24 HICs assembled, and at various stages of testing, 11 of them (Gold) were ready for making the final staves;
  2. 3 golden staves are produced and tested, ready for shipping;
  3. They continued working on the production until last Friday March 20 when CERN was shutdown. The stave production has been on hold since then.
  4. Antonello sent out update today – they are working on the ALPIDE/Stave export paperwork and also updating production plan to minimize the impact from COVID-19 shutdown;
  5. I asked Antonello about the latest status of HICs and Staves.

Cheers,

Ming

    Dear Ming,
     Can you update me on the status of the stave production
    at CERN at the time they shutdown? Thanks.

Hi all,

Many of us, if not all, are working from home these days, be safe and take care of you and your families.

Since we have had several topical meetings already this week, let’s skip tomorrow’s MVTX meeting, and update the progress through emails.

A brief update:

  • Mechanical design in progress, had a joint meeting with BNL survey and integration groups yesterday (Wed.) to review details of the design and insertion scheme; an order was out to produce a piece of End Wheel for prototyping
  • Readout software and firmware continues, a 4-stave telescope system in operation at home for development work
  • Stave production at CERN is on hold as CERN is closed, like many of us here is US.
  • Good progress with 2019 test beam analysis and MC tuning, had a meeting with Zhengyun’s group last night, see Sitong’s presentation etc. in the sPHENIX Mattermost mvtx tb chat group, https://chat.sdcc.bnl.gov/sphenix/channels/2019-mvtx-testbeam, will meet again in two weeks, same time (9PM/BNL)
  • Great time  for simulation and TB data analysis, MVTX detector response and analysis code updated by Yasser;

link to the TB wiki page and data log by Xiaochun’s group, https://wiki.bnl.gov/sPHENIX/index.php/Test_beam_in_2019_at_FNAL

Cheers,

Ming
