Ming, Rachid, Itaru, Takao, John K., Martin, Chris, Sasha, and Jan,

I talked with Jin about the discussion we want to have about
streaming
readout for the sPHENIX tracking systems. We have a block of time on
Friday afternoon:

I think this will be an organizational meeting where we discuss the
ideas and their ramifications, and then send people off with homework
to
assess the feasibility.

As the representative of the sPHENIX project, my goal is to enable
the
possibility of streaming the readout, if it proves feasible, but not
at
the expense of what we said we would do in sPHENIX starting in 2023.
I
don't actually think it should be that hard to do, but we should
reconsider the data rates and volumes at potential bottleneck points
in
the readout, consult the digital designers about the feasibility, and
consider the offline computing issues. We may find that some small
adjustments in our design might be desirable (for example, more
segmentation in the TPC readout, or higher speed network links from
some
of the servers), and it would be easier to do them now than wait
until
later, but I imagine there may be things that we don't want to expend
time or money on now, and leave for the future.

This will be open to everyone, but I think we need all your insights
into this problem. Thanks, and I hope we can talk on Friday.
