Hi Zhaozhong,

Thanks for the nice and hard work!

However, new plots need to go through the approval.
For Ming's talk, we can only present what we have in
sPH-HF-2021-001.

Hi Ming,

I just got the plots for Non-prompt Ds and D+ with the same cut from bb bar MDC1 sample. I attach the png and pdf files here. You may also use it in your talk if you are interested. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Zhaozhong Shi

Hi Xin,

Thanks for your suggestions, very good, I have updated slides accordingly, and I will try to talk out some details during the presentation.

Here is the near final talk, https://www.phenix.bnl.gov/WWW/publish/mxliu/talks/APS2021/sPHENIX-HF-Physics-APS-April-2021-Liu-final.pptx

Cheers,

Hi Ming,

Thanks for the nice slides. I have a few suggestions for you to consider

- Slide 1, may be better to spell out "HF".

- Slide 2, second bullet, "density-dependence", This may be a bit confusing, usually density on phase diagram means baryon density, but here when talking about RHIC (top energy) vs. LHC, the density variation is small. Or do you mean anything else?

- Slide 2, last bullet, "breakdown of QCD factorization", can you elaborate this? Which observable will allow to us to test this?

- Slide 3, it is better to also mention the magnetic field strength.

- Slide 4, I think the integration time is also one key parameter that allows us to efficiently reconstruct HF decays in high luminosity AuAu collisions.

- Slide 6, D+ decays to K-pi+pi+,  on the right, D0 decays to K-pi+

      - on the right plot, the low pT reach of D* is predominantly determined by the soft pion reconstruction. Though it is labeled 0<pT<20 GeV/c, if we can only reconstruct soft pions with pT>0.2 GeV/c, there will be no acceptance for D* to reach low pT below 1.5 or 2 GeV/c.

- Slide 10, For the left Ds reconstruction, in the right panel after the phi mass window cut, why don't we include the D+ component? The statistics is not best, but one can see there is a structure near D+ peak region. And D+->phipi+->K+K-pi+ is a physical channel that will be there.

Thanks and Best Regards

/xin

Hi Ming

Thanks for representing the HF TG in the APS meeting! Few suggestions for your consideration:

  • In general there are lots of plots for a short talk. Suggest highlight the main message from each slides and watch for timing
  • Slide 5: good highlight the newly integrated KFParticle. Meanwhile the quality of simulation and signal selection is still being improved, so these plot would not reflect our S/B using KFParticle.
  • Slide 9: there is an updated plot from BUP 2020 fig 8.4
  • Slide 9: Besides D_s, it would be interesting to show the KFParticle technical progress plot on D* as in sPH-HF-2021-001 : https://www.dropbox.com/s/jnysp682ivnauma/sPH-HF-2021-001.pdf?dl=0
  • Slide 12: Note the older version of the sPHENIX logo on right.

Cheers

Jin

Hi all,

I will give a short talk on sPHENIX HF physics at APS Mini-Symposium next Tuesday,

Session X14: Heavy Flavor and Quarkonia as a Probe of QCD Media, Current and Future – I

https://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/APR21/Session/X14

Here is the link to my draft slides,

https://www.phenix.bnl.gov/WWW/publish/mxliu/talks/APS2021/sPHENIX-HF-Physics-APS-April-2021-Liu-v2.pptx

Please send me your comments and suggestions, and if you have better plots/figures, send them to me also 😉

Deepa will give an overview talk on HF at the beginning, so I include bare minimal introductory materials on the physics motivation.

Deepa – it would be very helpful if you could send me your draft talk in advance.

Cheers,

Ming
