Hi Jo and all, I found the slides are very informative about the issues of VTRx. Since not everyone has access to CERN page, I have uploaded the slides to the BNLbox under MVTX shared folder, https://bnlbox.sdcc.bnl.gov/index.php/f/25322900
At the end Laurie mentioned the importance of cooling, we may revisit this option at next readout meeting?
Cheers, Ming

This might be interesting for us to at least look at the slides (I know it is a bit early for us in the US)

Dear all
The next EP-ESE electronics seminar will be held on Tuesday 18th January 2022 at 9h: The Curious Case of VTRx Receiver Failuresby Lauri Olantera (CERN)Abstract: The Versatile Link transceiver (VTRx) is a part of the bi-directional radiation-resistant optical data link designed by the Versatile Link Common Project for high-energy physics experiments. Its production started in 2016 and by the end of the production in 2018 over 18,000 VTRx transceivers had been manufactured. During the first year of use by the early adopters and after larger scale commissioning started in 2020, concerns arose regarding the reliability of the transceiver. After user reports on receiver stability issues, intensive investigations were started. This seminar will describe the work carried out by the various partners in order to understand the reported issues. The findings along the way up to the most recent test results will be shown. The final conclusions on the root cause and implemented mitigation measures will also be presented.
The agenda page is here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1099169/
The seminar will be broadcast on Zoom, at the following location: https://cern.zoom.us/j/91592499157?pwd=bHZlZmhyeDRORkRKSHVnT3VmYkZHZz09
For info, please note that upcoming seminars are listed on the ESE website:
Many thanks and a very happy Christmas! Ken
