Dear All

We will not have the HF TG / Upsilon meeting today. Nonetheless, offline follow up via email and mattermost are encouraged.

We are also planning the next week’s HF / Upsilon TG meeting on Friday 3PM with a focus of HF jet reconstruction: we plan to have update for the D0-jet analyzers and an update from the Jet TG by Tim. Also welcome to call into the next week’s jet TG meeting, where D0 jet will be discussed with jet experts too (indico to be announced)

Looking forward to talking to you next week.

Cheers

Jin for co-conveners

Subject: [minutes] New-time weekly joint HF Upsilon TG meeting,

Introduction

We have selected the new weekly one-hour meeting slots on at Thu 11:30 AM and Friday at 3 PM, alternating each week.

Unfortunately, we were not able to accommodate everyone’s schedule, even with a combination of two-time slots. Therefore, we followed the following rules for optimization: (1) Conveners make to both meetings, (2) minimize unavailable to all meetings (3) max attendance of each meeting. In the end, I am afraid that four TG members would not be able to attend either meeting lots. When required, we will be happy to have special meetings to accommodate the speaker’s schedule. And we will likely call for another poll at the end of the coming semester for a new time.

KFParticle in AuAu- Cameron Dean

Summary: D0 selections were studied in AuAu simulations in an unbiased way. Notes coming after the meeting.

Tony: Full decay length does not show up in DCA

Joe/Tony: ACTS does the proper propagation to calculate DCA with field bending

Jin: c*tau of D is the order of 100um, high p B meson may lead to 1mm displaced 3D vertex

Xuan: cross-check S/B with STAR measurement for D0

Wei: rough A*efficiency for D0 for preselection as function of pT(D0)

Cameron: will be in the note

Jin: slide 10, curious about the cause for D0 daughter track focuses on the forward direction rather than central. Could be useful to look at higher pT D0s

EvtGen validation - Zhaozhong Shi

Summary: EvtGen QA checks. Most work well. Investigating a few discrepancies.

Jin: New/Old PDG difference.

Zhaozhong: the difference is small, 1% level, and seems traced to the older PDG table used in the EvtGen decay table

D0 jet - Xuan Li

Summary: D0 jet truth vs reco: resolution, and mean quantified

Cameron: is the JES reconstructed higher than expected?

Xuan: could be a fit artificial effect by using Gaussian to describe the peak

Antonio: particle flow object used in the D0jet reconstruction.

Jin: the mismatching might lead to the tails.

Joe: good to check into what kinds of matching and their quality, e.g. double counting, missing matching.

Joe: truth tracing might be possible now for lower-level QA.

Hi Everyone

This is a reminder to the weekly joint HF Upsilon TG meeting, at new time slot Friday Jan 13 2023, 15:00 ET.

Currently on agenda, https://indico.bnl.gov/event/18055/

  • Cameron Dean: KFParticle in AuAu and commissioning analysis
  • Zhaozhong Shi: quick update on EvtGen validation

As we move to weekly meetings, we will try to keep each meeting concise and within one hour.

Looking forward to talking to you at https://bnl.zoomgov.com/j/1613938007?pwd=QjYzUnpYQ2xNZWZLSy9qd3Z4dFpzZz09

Subject: [Sphenix-upsilons-l] [Fri 3PM, Thu 11:30AM] New weekly meeting time for joint HF Upsilon TG meeting, spring 2023

Dear HF and Upsilon TG

Thanks for everyone for your input to the poll! We have selected the new weekly one-hour meeting slots at Thu 11:30AM and Friday 3PM, alternating each week. The first meeting is coming Friday Jan 13 3-4PM. And Cameron will discuss KFParticle analysis in heavy ion collisions https://indico.bnl.gov/event/18055/

Unfortunately we were not able to accommodate everyone’s schedule, even with the a combination of two time slots. Therefore, we followed the following rules for optimization: (1) Conveners make to both meetings, (2) minimize unavailable to all meetings (3) max attendance of each meeting. And we will likely call for another poll at the end of the coming semester for new time.

Subject: Re: [Sphenix-hf-jets-l] [poll] new meeting time for joint HF Upsilon TG meeting, spring 2023

Dear HF and Upsilon TG

This is a reminder for polling spring 2023 meeting time:

https://www.when2meet.com/?18002588-c6lci

Please enter your preference and your name in the poll, and we are trying to use two 1hr meeting slots at alternating weeks to accommodate the schedule for everyone. Final choices will be announced before the new year.

Cheers

Jin

Subject: [poll] new meeting time for joint HF Upsilon TG meeting, spring 2023

Dear All

Please enter your preference on the new meeting time for the joint HF Upsilon TG meetings in spring 2023

https://www.when2meet.com/?18002588-c6lci

The slots are given in Eastern (NY) Time Zone.

Please note the change in the meeting time strategy: we found it is impossible to use a single bi-weekly slot to accommodate everyone. Therefore, starting the new year, we will switch to weekly (shorter 1hr) meetings and with TWO time slots for alternating weeks. From the above poll, we will select these two slots so we can 1. cover most participants summing the two slots, 2. maximize participation for each meeting.

Please enter your preference and your name in the poll. Question and suggestion always welcomed.

Cheers

Cameron, Jin, Marzia, Tony
