- Subject: [Sphenix-maps-l] network issues around the DAQ
- Date: Thu, 6 Apr 2023 17:45:54 -0400
Dear all,
on and off during the day, and now for good until further intervention, we are dead in the water with the 1008 network.
The issue is that during the day someone must have plugged in a wrong network cable that causes a network loop with the 1008 master switch, which results in the main ports in question getting shut down.
I have been on the phone with the network guys all afternoon, and I have been unable to find the culprit. The problem started late morning.
The problem is that all those now shut down ports run to our rack 4.3, and our entire DAQ universe gets its network from there. JohnK and I tried to trace every single unidentified network cable to its destination, and found interesting things - for example, a super-long network cable that runs all the way through the laser room, out to the AH, and all the way to the south end of the IR. It is randomly plugged into the DAQ network.
Please let's no longer plug in stuff and let me do it.
I'm waiting for a callback from the network response team - it's after hours. I'm trying to get the GTM, seb00, daq01, and at least one bufferbox back on the network.
Martin
