Hi Zhaozhong,

For B-meson exclusive channel reconstruction, it is mostly challenging because of statistics due to the small decay branching ratio for any specific channel. Xiaolong did some estimate on the B+ -> D0bar + pi+ projection before, you can find in note sPH-HF-2017-002

https://portal.nersc.gov/project/star/dongx/sPHENIX/sPH-HF-2017-002-v1.pdf

Section 4, particularly Fig. 37 shows the significant projection in central and MB Au+Au collisions.

Thanks and Best Regards

/xin

Ah but those are more like non-prompt D. I guess I will say it as "b-hadron"...

Hi Zhaozhong,

Yes, it’s in the BUP in Figures 4.6 and 4.7 https://indico.bnl.gov/event/15845/attachments/40963/68517/sPHENIX_Beam_Use_Proposal_2022.pdf

Hi Jin and Cameron.,

Do we have b-hadron RAA and v2 approved to use? I will need to look them up honestly. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Zhaozhong Shi

Hi Zhaozhong,

Thanks as well for putting together your poster. I tried to add comments on top of Jin’s to avoid duplicates. There is one point that Jin made that I felt I had to make as well. I’m happy to receive and help with the next version.

  • Abstract

  • "Moreover, indirect measurements on non-prompt D-mesons and heavy flavor decayed leptons have been carried out extensively" is probably better as "Moreover, indirect measurements on non-prompt D-mesons and heavy flavor decayed leptons have been carried out extensively at both the LHC and RHIC". The current way implies STAR doesn't have a paper on this.

  • Remove "In this poster,"

  • "discuss projections" should be "demonstrate projections"
  • "discuss the expected" should be "show the expected"

  • Remove "We will also report on the status of b-physics analysis"

  • b-physics at sPHENIX

  • "Long decay lifetime, separation of secondary vertex from primary vertex". This sounds like two separate points but they're equivalent, a long lifetime means you can easily separate SV and PV so this should be more like "Long decay lifetime means good (or easy?) separation of secondary vertex from primary vertex"

  • "Constraint" should be "Constrain"

  • "Beauty quark hadronization mechanism" feels like half a sentence, should it be "Understand b-quark hadronization mechanism" (beauty to b will save you space to make the change)

  • sPHENIX MVTX Detector

  • I would change the second picture to a real picture of the MVTX. We have the detector and you should demonstrate the work you did

  • "High granularity of pixel pitches" this sounds weird. The pitch is just the length of the pixel so this should be "High granularity of pixels".

  • MVTX + INTT + TPOT Event Display

  • Figure. Hao-Ren has updated this with the preliminary tag and track projection so you can swap this out.

  • You mention cluster cleaning twice so one of them should be removed: "Cluster cleaning to reduce background noise" and "Clear clusters from cosmic muon track in all 3 tracking subsystems"

  • "Simple circular fit to obtain cosmic muon track 𝑝'" we removed the pT from the plots so I wouldn't mention it (as someone will ask). Maybe say "Simple circular fit to demonstrate hit alignment between subsystems"?

  • Enrich 𝒃"𝒃 Events with Artificial Intelligence

  • I actually read through this before reading Jin's comments and came to the same conclusion. You should remove this and swap with a discussion on v2 and R_AA predictions. We have both in the BUP that you can use but there is no discussion in the poster on b-hadron predictions. If you need space, I would also remove the event display section.

  • Summary

  • I think this will be easy to re-write once you have the section on v2 and R_AA as they should be in the conclusion.

    Cheers,
    Cameron

Dear Zhaozhong

Thanks for putting together the poster draft. Please find my comments below. Please revise the poster and share with the list again:

  • Abstract:
  • “sPHENIX will begin commissioning with Au + Au collisions” should be changed to the past tense.
  • b-physics at sPHENIX
  • First bullet, “Excellent tracking and vertexing performance”:
  • This bullet is out of context. Please remove it.
  • “Retain memory through the medium” can be merged with the bullet before it.
  • Search for fully reconstructed beauty hadron at RHIC
  • A stronger (e.g., precision measurement) and more specific (e.g. which final state) statement should be used here.
  • “sPHENIX has the capability of doing b-physics.”
  • Can be moved to the next box of sPHENIX intro.
  • First Year Data Taking and Analysis
  • Please remove these two bullets: “People from all over the world participate in shift at the control room” , “Collected to large amount of beam data.”
  • Please mention the date of running time
  • “MVTX operated in streaming readout mode with physics trigger” is unclear. Please rephrase the role physics trigger played in the streaming mode.
  • “Resume new run in late 2023 with p + p, p + Au, and Au + Au collisions.”
    -> “p + p, and Au + Au data taking in Run24.”
  • MVTX + INTT + TPOT Event Display
  • In general, there is large empty space in this display. You can consider just add a previously approved TPC display of the AuAu collision data.
  • Remove “Ideal detector geometry used for event display.”
  • “Simple circular fit to obtain cosmic muon track 𝑝T” : is not supported by the plot. Please either add the track to plot or remove this statement.
  • Enrich bb Events with Artificial Intelligence
  • It is unclear this can have a contribution to the Run24 physics program.
  • Please replace the whole section with RAA and v2 projection, which is advertised in the title.
  • Summary:
  • “Tracking commissioning: event display of MVTX + INTT + TPOT detector with simple tracking to measure cosmic muon 𝑝T'”
  • This bullet is both strange and duplication of the last one. Please remove it.
  • “More physics simulations based on data performance ongoing.”
-> sPHENIX will provide strong model constraints on the b-quark transport in the QGP at the RHIC energy

Cheers

Jin

Dear HF Topic Group Conveners,

I have just finished preparing a draft entitled "b-hadron RAA and v2 with sPHENIX " for my Quark Matter 2023 poster. I posted it on Invenio shown in the link below:

Would you please have a look? Any comment or suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,
