Physics potential before the final TPC calibration - Joe Osborn

There are 3 types of distortions in the TPC

• Static distortions - O(cm) (calibrated with laser system)

• Beam induced - O(mm) (determined with TPOT)

• Fluctuations - O(100s μm) (calibrated with laser system)

With 500um smearing, tracking efficiency tanks at high pT, good momentum scale, and noticeable worse resolution

Marzia/Tony: MVTX alignment is critically important. Study on-going

Jin: bias in the sample due to efficiency. Blow up the covariance.

Jin: performance

Tony: caution in monotonic systematic shifts

EvtGen update - Zhaozhong Shi

Good progress

TODO: Check memory leaks and coding checks

DNP talk dry run - Zhaozhong Shi

https://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/DNP22/Session/LF

Cameron: add references to all plots

Jin: Reduce introduction in coordination with Ming's talk before

Sasha: (have) sent polished Electron ID plots

Marzia: make the summary concise for such a short talk

D0 jet - Antonio Carlos Oliveira da Silva

Dennis: how likely to have shared tracks for two D0 candidates?

Antonio: problematic issue in ALICE, TBD for RHIC

Cameron: we have the infrastructure to quantify such probability from the KFParticle_sphenix package

Jin: In the case of shared tracks, would one entry or two enter the D0-jet histograms?

Antonio: two entry

Xuan/Dennis: was truth D0 matching used?

Antonio: yes, via D0 ancestry tracing

Jin: was the pile-up pp collision track excluded from this analysis? That includes out-of-time pile-up and in-time pile-up collisions.

Jin/Joe: Please double check pp flag in production

Dennis/Jin: why FF peak at 1?

Cameron: Pythia configuration. https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/calibrations/blob/master/Generators/HeavyFlavor_TG/phpythia8_jets_d02kpi_MDC2.cfg

Jin: suggest checking larger R, in case softer particle leak out of the R=0.3 cone

Reference to particle flow and track calo matching:

Joe: Particle flow is run in this macro: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macros/blob/master/common/G4_ParticleFlow.C

Dennis: This long presentation in an old Collaboration Meeting is (for better or worse) probably our best documentation on this: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/8837/contributions/39275/attachments/29202/45320/dvp-sPHENIX-CM-JSTG-7-7-20.pdf
