Hi all,

To respond to some comments about updating KFParticle to allow you to select tracks with a minimum number of MVTX or TPC hits, and to add a flag to stop extrapolating the tracks back to the SV (which caused mass splitting in K-short analyses), this PR is now going through Jenkins, https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/1908.

Please note, I only tested this against gcc, clang and cppcheck. This has NOT been checked to run in KFParticle for unintended behaviour.

Cheers,
Cameron

Introduction

  • Note cuts are analysis cuts, current wiki value only select prompt cuts.

Cameron and Derek will also add the cuts avaialble in KFParticle
Dennis: it will be useful to have list of cuts and motivations (e.g. high pT in jet, low pT in HF); vz is event level cut, which may be a separate event cut recommendation page; nmaps = 3 or 4 was recommended as tracks could pick up more than one cluster per layer

Xin/Joe: efficiency is about 80% but the missing layer could damage the acceptance. Furthermore, two-layer could be sufficient for HF
Tony: To be addressed in the future to allow two layer
Tony: Only TPC tracks may be used e.g. conversion electron

K-short reconstruction with distortions - Zhaozhong

Zhaozhong: crosschecked Joe's plot on momentum scale and resolution with/without residual distortion.
Joe: distortion could change the track momentum scale. Residual distortion is at O(1) hundred um level.
Xin: Suggest studying inner track matching precision and efficiency with and without distortion.
Joe: We can still connect TPC -> MVTX. Vertex DCA was stable. Effect not yet quantified in detail.

Slide 10:
It is hard to interpret after integrating a large momentum range given the large dependence on tracking performance over pT

Cameron: HIJING analysis was before a change, which now allows both TPC-only and TPC-MVTX tracks
Tony/Xin: TPC-MVTX should have inv. mass of 3MeV, TPC-only should have a good resolution too (6MeV). The wider peak may be a reco problem due to the track propagation in the field.
Cameron: to look into it, which expects to have a switch to enable momentum production

Tony: high pT K0s may get lost due to the loss of a secondary vertex beyond the MVTX first layer.
Jin: need to fix inv. mass first.
Tony: for eval analysis, please use Reese Boucher's macro for 2nd vertex correction

D0 in AuAu plot update for HP23 Cameron Dean

Xin: Error bar on pull all has the same size (as expected for pull)
Cameron: blue and magenta have fixed ratio to describe the D0 peak
Tony/Joe: please highlight the length of the data taking is small (25min) to avoid misunderstanding of marginal measurement at sPHENIX.
Joe: pile up should be noted.
