Hi Dennis,
Thanks a lot for your very nice suggestions and feedback. I have updated my current talk draft accordingly and I look forward to include more sPHENIX performance plots from the tracking subsystems once they are approved.

Please see the updated talk slides below:

And please see my response inline below.

Further suggestions and comments are very welcome!
Thanks.

Hi Xuan,

Thanks for circulating your slides for the IS conference. Please
consider some comments from me below.

Slide 6: since we don’t have a separate talk on the quarkonia
program, you could mention here that another great usage for the
calorimeters is the Upsilon->di-electron channel
---> Added.

Slide 7, right plot: there is nothing wrong with showing this, but you
could consider picking something from the more recent test beam paper:
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9321702 . The plot you are
showing uses an older version of the EMCal prototype design.
---> Plot updated as suggested.

Slide 8: we may potentially hope to have some approved plots from INTT
(or perhaps even MVTX?) depending on how things go in the next few
days in 1008. Those might be more natural to show for the HF focus
than calorimeter-related plots, if we have them.
---> I would be more than happy to include any sPHENIX tracking performance plots once they are approved.

Slide 9: you could consider moving this to just after slide 3. It
comes quite late for a high-level physics motivation, in my opinion…
---> Updated the slide sequence as suggested.

Slide 11: somehow the Upsilon symbols have been rendered as gammas
here
---> Corrected.

Slide 12, left and center: the plots here look a bit “grainy” to
me if I zoom in — any possibility to go back to the BUP PDF and get
high-resolution versions?
---> Plots updated as suggested.

Slide 12, right plot: can you replace this with the “official”
version we have in Fig D.4, page 54 of the BUP 2022:
https://indico.bnl.gov/event/15148/attachments/40846/68568/sPHENIX_Beam_Use_Proposal_2022.pdf
---> Plot updated as suggested.

Slide 13: for the b-jet z_g projection plot, that prediction by Li and
Vitev is actually a quite interesting one. They argue that there is a
unique kinematic range at RHIC energies where one might expect the
b-jet sub-structure to be more strongly modified than for light jets
(!), and sPHENIX could in principle measure that. Not sure you have
the time/space, but that could be a nice detail to make slide 13 a bit
more exciting, since otherwise it is just a bunch of projections with
not too much specific commentary.
---> Updated the relevant sentence as suggested.

Slide 15: maybe “started collecting 200 GeV Au+Au data” ->
“started commissioning with beam” ? Since we are not taking
physics data right now…
---> Updated the statement as suggested.

Slide 15: we might want to be a bit careful with our phrasing around
the “first Upsilon(3S) measurement” at RHIC, given STAR’s recent
exclusion limit. Maybe “first potential observation of surviving
Upsilon(3S)” or similar?
---> Updated the statement as suggested.

Dear All,
I will present the "Heavy flavor physics at the sPHENIX
experiment" talk in the upcoming Initial Stages 2023 conference
from
June 19 and 23 in Denmark. The talk agenda is not finalized yet
and
this talk is scheduled for 20 minutes, which I assume it's either
for
15+5 minutes or 17+3 minutes. I reference several recent excellent
talks and the nicely written sPHENIX BURs and notes. Please see
the
