Announcement:

Cameron: KFParticle patch to handle new field map (that do not have z=0.0cm point reading)

D0 commissioning analysis : Xuan Li

Decay track vertex:

Cameron: truth matching is available to obtain the true secondary vertex

N_track: is related to the primary vertex.

Jin: when N_track is small, the secondary vertex track may have a drag in the primary vertex determination.

Slide 9:

Cameron: Every event has a fully constructed D0 but could scale the background to get a general sense of the level of combinatorial background in MB pp collisions

Gregory: what is the peak in the background

Xuan: simple background fit, will be improved.

Cameron: also the misPID swap spectrum.

Marzia: misPID and signal fit should have a fixed ratio and be used in the total fit.

Jin: plot both truePID and misPID peaks from this data

Jin: serious MVA cut tuning requires MB pp simulation.

Tony: A realistic study also requires a look into streaming extended readout window.

Action items:

  • - Coordinating with the tracking and heavy flavor groups to generate a more realistic PP simulation sample resembling extended readout data from the experiment.
  • - Following up offline to separate the study of primary and secondary vertex reconstruction quality as a function of track numbers using truth information.
  • - Study the component of D0 mass peak that comes from the misPID piK pairs, as in a few pT  bins
  • - Continuing the analysis work while bearing in mind the need for a more realistic background simulation once real data is used.

Photon conversion commissioning analysis : Zhongling

Zhongling: input is MDC2 MB AuAu events.

Zhongling: Conversion radius is reconstructed from KFParticle

Jin: please use the simulation truth information to help determine the optimal cuts

Tony: most conversion happens outside MVTX, at INTT or TPC field cage

Cameron: KFParticle may have a default MVTX hit requirement of 3. Please remove it for conversion analysis

Jin: do check each step of reconstruction where this was lost.

Tony: Please check pp runs, which will be directly useful in the Run24 analysis.

Action items:

- Retrieving truth information from the simulation to help benchmark reconstruction and guide selection criteria optimization.

- Looking into pp events that directly help with Run24 Quarkonion commissioning
