Hi everyone,

Here's the notes of the TG meeting we had today (Aug 28th).

We would like to encourage everyone to analyses tracks (mostly TPC-only) using a common macro as a starting point. The macro takes in clusters and seeds, then runs the full ACTS tracking on them. Tony suggested that the distortion corrections should be enabled by default (they're currently commented out). This macro can be found in our macros repo at https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macros/blob/master/TrackingProduction/Fun4All_TrackAnalysis.C

Also, run 51428 onwards have the TPC in zero suppression mode, and thus runs from here onwards should be used for studies.

Tony gave a list of steps to be achieved before we have full tracks we could be happy with

1. Zero-field studies for silicon, and TPOT alignment.

2. Matching of silicon to TPOT

3. Matching of silicon, TPC and TPOT with distortions

4. Understanding for the distortions scale with luminosity

Tony mentioned that our short term goals are the TPC/silicon matching, alignment and distortion corrections. We currently mostly have TPC track unmatched to the silicon.

A longer term goal is to properly handle TPC-only tracks which don't have silicon components, such as conversions, K-shorts and Lambdas. These tracks don’t have a beam crossing to constrain the z-position.

The TPC tracking does currently have a preliminary static distortion correction, and we're now seeing/working to understand the beam-related distortions.

Another task that is needed is to associated resonances to a primary vertex. While KFParticle currently does this, it was written under the assumption of having a handle on the z-position from the MVTX. We would need to make alterations for reconstruction with a poor z-position or an unknown one due to having to bunch crossing info (say from K-shorts).

Many thanks,
Cameron, Tony, Marzia and Jin

Subject: [[Sphenix-hf-jets-l] ] Next joint open heavy flavour and quarkonia meeting

Hi all,

We hope everyone’s well, not too tired from the run, and looking forward to the analysis of pp data soon.

We would like to have a joint open heavy flavor and quarkonia TG meeting today, Wednesday August 28th at 1:30pm. Now that we have data coming in from all subsystems, we’re getting an understanding of how it all looks. We would like to have a discussion on what tools or updates to existing tools we would need to enable a quick start of physics analyses. Please note, this does not mean we are starting analyses or forming PPGs, this is just to have any required or requested updates in place for when the run concludes. Our priority is still to collect data as effectively as possible.

The indico agenda can be found at https://indico.bnl.gov/event/24646/
and the zoom link is https://bnl.zoomgov.com/j/1613938007?pwd=QjYzUnpYQ2xNZWZLSy9qd3Z4dFpzZz09

We look forward to talking to everyone soon,
Cameron, Jin, Marzia and Tony
