Dear all,
Minutes
Meeting recording can be found at https://bnl.zoomgov.com/rec/share/MTo-PxsPKD04AQ2cWSBvHwPGsCO_I9DxdmFdLTIJYOhfIzxra-6a7xFGARCuWCtk.4vAfelIakFREFhrO?startTime=1729706441000 Passcode: q^k8kvz=
We had many great presentations, showing interest in various physics topics and lots of person power, thank you to everyone who contributed. I've also added summaries from Fudan and GSU to the agenda. We won't list specific contributions here but will add notes on what is not contained within the presentations.
A general comment from Gunther was to ensure all analyses are working from a common DST set (builds and calibration tags) with common reconstruction objects like vertices and dE/dx nodes. This will avoid different versions or custom code being used in various places. To ensure this, the tracking group have generated the first fixed-build production with fully fitted tracks. It is not guaranteed to be physics ready but it is stable. These builds will be our common working point. Tasks will need to be assigned to collaborators and knowledge passed between the HF, jet and tracking groups to ensure there is no doubling of effort, that we all know what the status is, and experts can assist where needed.
The first fixed-build DSTs can be found at /sphenix/lustre01/sphnxpro/physics/slurp/tracking/ana441_2024p007/
LANL
Low-level task focus will be silicon-TPC matching and PV studies which can be extended to SV studies. Another task could be track/calo matching
UCLA
Jin mentioned if UCLA would be interested in D0 A_N. Thomas said it is something they could help with but grants restrict research to spin topics. Work could be done on selections and productions. The cold QCD group has students interested in D0 A_N (Cheng-Wei Shih)
LBNL
Low-level task focus will be data-driven corrections and simulations, on top of MVTX alignment.
SBU
Low-level task focus will be TPC work from Luke and Tom. Chenxi will be involved in low-level tasks too.
ISU
Low-level task focus will be on track quality and studying duplicated tracks
Purdue
Low-level task focus will be on alignment. Joseph is in discussion with Greg and Tony
From:
Dean, Cameron <cdean AT bnl.gov> Dear open heavy flavor and quarkonia enthusiasts,
Run 24 has ended. Congratulations to everyone who has worked so hard to make this a success. We have collected a large data set, with triggered and streamed samples on disk, and now is the time to start setting up our analyses.
As was mentioned in the last PCM, there are two proposed abstracts for Quark Matter which are covered under our topical group:
(1) Lambda_c / D0 ratio in pp (2) D_s / D+ ratio in pp
These are not the only PPGs that can be formed, but these will be topics that we will focus on for QM next year.
We will have a topical group meeting this Wednesday, October 23rd at 1:30pm ET, and a second meeting next week. We are soliciting presentations from all institutions or individuals on physics topics that they are interested in, and contributions that they can make to sPHENIX. We would encourage groups to combine multiple topics into a single presentation. We would ask you prepare at most 2 slides per topic to outline the
(1) Topic (2) Timescale and feasibility (3) Workforce and expertise (staff, students and postdocs)
If you would like to present, please let us know and we can add you to either agenda. If the time of the meeting is not suitable, you can also upload slides indicating interest or email us which will allow us to write a complete list to send to Dennis, Anne and Joe.

Talk to you all soon, Cameron, Tony, Marzia and Jin |
