Hi Xudong,

Thanks for the slides. They look really good. I have some small comments and suggestions. Your slot at the symposium is 25 minutes which is probably 20 minutes + 5 minutes of questions so you may have too many slides to meet that timing, you could try to condense or remove some slides.

Slide 4 – We were able to reach 30% streaming readout, in our documents it says 10% so you could switch it here or verbally mention that we surpassed design goals.

Slide 6 – It feels a little strange to show INTT vertex plots here. The INTT gives us the timing but the vertex resolution isn’t good enough for heavy flavor physics so it might argue against the point you want to make. I’d switch the performance plots to showing that the INTT can resolve the collision in time.

Slide 7 – We should be careful how we describe the plot on the right. This was very early in the run, with no TPC corrections, no INTT timing, no alignment. It’s a good demonstration that things were moving in the right direction and you could emphasise that. I always thought this plot was informative as it seemed to indicate multiple collisions. It’s the same plot that you show I think, but side on https://www.sphenix.bnl.gov/sites/default/files/2024-06/sphenix-perf-6-24-r-z_evtDisplay2.png

Slide 9 – The bottom two plots should have a label saying they’re simulation. This is a general comment for any simulations plots that don’t have that label.

Slide 11 – You could mention that the purpose of the AI tagger is to sample the events that we can’t record in streaming readout, whether this be 90% or 70% of the remaining collisions

Slides 24 & 25 – There’s a type in the title

Slide 31 – I would remove this slide, and things related to the beam backgrounds. The plots shown aren’t approved for external use and it could raise lots of questions. There is a joint taskforce working on solutions but that’s really work-in-progress. This also means the plot on slide 35 with the hits in the MVTX should be removed.

Slide 33 – Typo, “Heavy flaovr jet” -> Heavy flavor jet

Cheers,
Cameron

Dear all,

I will give a talk in the 9th International Symposium on Heavy Flavor Production in Hadron and Nuclear Collisions (HF-HNC 2024). Indico link. The title of talk is sPHENIX heavy flavor perspective. It is a 25 mins talk that will be presented on Dec. 10, 2024.

Please see my draft slides in invenio: https://sphenix-invenio.sdcc.bnl.gov/records/vyb6f-ve053

Any suggestions and comments are very welcome!

Best regards,

Xudong
