Hi All,

Here are the minutes from today’s meeting.

Regards,

Ron

The mounting supports have been delivered by Astro, which seems to complete the order with them.  Only 4 out of 8 Delron blocks were delivered, but Rosi think Russ can make do.  Rosi has communicated with Russ to see if any sEPD team members can be of assistance - Russ has been busy with the INTT installation but we expect he will not need our help.

We anticipate a presentation in two weeks about the status of mechanical integration.  The delivery from Xometry is expected soon, this includes both the strong back and parts for the SiPM box.  The McMaster-Carr parts have all arrived and are sitting in an office at Lehigh.  Once the stongback parts have arrived at BNL, two main tests will be performed.  The strongback pieces need to be checked for flatness and lack of overlap - this can be done on granite tables in the Lenz lab at BNL.  The sectors also need to be clipped onto the strongback to make sure everything fits correctly.  Some sectors may need to be rewrapped - in some cases this will be obvious and they can be rewrapped prior to checking fitment.

It is not yet decided who will assemble the SiPM box, but the system is very similar to the EMCal, so it is likely that one of the technicians who worked on the EMCal will do it.  The boards have been ordered from CEM.  Next week the SiPMs will be sorted into lots.  The cable length testing is going to be a lot of work. John’s suggestion is to do the cable length testing concurrent with the laying of actual cables.  They are very likely long enough to reach on the north side.  We are less sure about the south side, but John suggests getting additional (extender) cables if we find things don’t reach on the south side.  JaeBeom anticipates being finished with all cable testing by the end of the day today.  The plan to lay cables will be brought up at the 830am tomorrow, with the expectation of doing it at the end of the day.

Progress is excellent on the cosmics testing.  For the 27 BNL-resident sectors, all odd-side tiles have been tested, and even-side testing is beginning.  The plan is to complete even-side testing of these 27 sectors first, and then to do both sides testing of the two sectors currently at Lehigh (s01 an s10).

Discussions are ongoing between Dennis, Ejiro, JaeBeom, and Tim Rinn about which pieces of code can be shared and reused - due to strong similarities with the EMCal, a lot of code can be borrowed from there.  Dennis and Rosi will coordinate on what can be borrowed from STAR, e.g. the GUI the code that displays the average ADC in the sectors two-dimensionally.

Hi All,
I hope to see many of you at the meeting in ~90 minutes.  In addition to the two points that Ron has brought up, I would also like to know whether we have verified the length from rack to the location of the SiPM boxes.  I can add the slides from last week with the photos to the agenda if necessary.  I believe this was the last piece of this puzzle that needed to be solved (outside of a discussion on the installation procedure).
Regards,
Rosi
