Hi Russ,

All of the sEPD sectors are here, they will be finished testing ~March 27.  The Xometry orders for both the SiPM Boxes and the Petals were placed, with delivery of last week.  Some parts started to arrive (I know John H. has some brackets). 

We have settled on the location of the SiPM boxes, they will be in the North/South West locations shown in Fig 4 of: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/18317/contributions/73680/attachments/46200/78178/SiPM%20Box%20Model%20%281%29.pdf

We still need to develop the how they are mounted.

Would you be available for tomorrow's meeting at 2 pm?  (I am at BNL, so if 2 doesn't work we can meet at a different time.  Jamie will be here too.)

I have been a little out of the loop on sEPD organizing the past week or so.  We did receive the sEPD supports from Astro and we are working on installation instructions.  We were short four Delrin spacer blocks but we are having those made at a BNL shop.

Can you let me know that status of

1. The sEPD sectors?  When will the 6X north and 6X south sEPD sectors or petals some to BNL?
2. the sEPD SiPM boxes and supports?  What is the status of theses SiPM boxes? Did we settle how and where to mount the SiPM boxes?

Hi all, 

Sorry for jumping in but just to give you more clear information. 

We had a chance later this afternoon to discuss some details for the box and for the cables which two are relevant (cc Eric in particular for this task). 

So the summary is as following — and @Micah you can maybe add a summary as well for the meeting on Monday (we can discuss offline as well if you want)

1. Current suggestion of the SiPM box is “WEST” side. It was originally suggested in the East side but that side became a bit packed because of MVTX stuff. 

2. We have more room in the west side and as seen in the picture, the box fits well in the north side. The box will be attached to the two aluminum bars and those will be attached to the rail in the picture where the cables are inserted. We confirmed with the engineer team (Dan) that we have enough space for that and the current cables do not need to be moved. Also confirmed with John Haggerty. 

3. We could not put the mockup box in the southern side because there was some activity ongoing there while we had all relevant people around. We took a picture afterwards and the space is similar to the north side. 

4. One of the check we want to do is to test with a bundle of signal cables (meritec) to see if the length really fits to this position. The north side seems to be obviously fine while the cables should have to around a bit in the south side. 

—> For this, I talked with Eric and will arrange next Monday to find a time to test - label - bundle the meritec cables in highbay next week. 

—> Perhaps then we can test with the bundled four cables to see if the length is good enough or not.

Micah and Jaebeom have taken some nice photos of our mock-up sEPD box in the proposed location, see: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/18317/contributions/73680/attachments/46200/78145/SiPM%20Box%20Model.pdf  (if the link stops working, they'll be posted at - https://indico.bnl.gov/event/18317/ we are still working on our draft).

The frame that they mocked up was designed for the other location, I suspect just from the photos that some design changes will be needed.  Please let our team know if you would like additional photos (and of what) to help with the design.  We will also discuss this further in the sEPD Tuesday engineering meeting.
