Hello Rosi,

Apologies, I missed to reply.
I summarized the location of the total 5 boards (1 before + 4 new swapped from emcal) here under sheet “Location of bit flip boards” :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xtxRDeDvurRkjKuBzgWhMInGn8gjahc2jiTi71bzAgc/edit#gid=82206100

As we changed the configuration after the full installation of the electronics, I am not sure if this board has been used for the data taking before RHIC’s break.
If we can take pulse data with all of existing boards soon (not interfering other activities ongoing right now at 1008), we can demonstrate how to recover the shape of the signal for those channels. Pedestal runs can also be used to check those things.

Best,
Jaebeom

Hi JaeBeom,
Ah, I see... So in your report, you have, "5 hardware problematic boards (bit flip) found : 4 in emcal / 1 in sepd". This 5th one isnt' in your table (which is the swapped ones), do you know which channel it was so I can compare it to the data we have. It would be very useful to know how to recover the channels as well.
Regards,
Rosi

Hi Rosi,

Sorry I missed your reply.
So the boards listed in the table have each one channel that has this bit-flip problem and it is always that channel.
Last year they were all in the emcal racks and now moved to the sepd crate in the slot numbers in the table.
To add more info, the recovery works to flip that sample back. We can demonstrate how it works if needed.

Best,
Jaebeom

Hi JaeBeom,
Thank you for this summary - which of these channels had the bit flip in last year's data?  (Is it always the same bit that is flipped, or a different one in each board?)
Cheers,
Rosi

Dear all,

Please find the summary of the 2 weeks (Jan 22th - Feb 2nd) calo-workfest below regarding calorimeter electronics related items.

Calorimeter electronics
1) 19 new ADC boards installed in the emcal high-eta region (still missing final 13). Detailed location below : link
2) New ADC initialization procedure using caloserver fixed bit shift problems (which made up the majority of problems in 2023 data)
3) 5 hardware problematic boards (bit flip) found : 4 in emcal / 1 in sepd. The 4 boards in emcal were swapped with the good ADC boards in the sepd crate to avoid firing calo-triggers
— Bit flipped channels are recoverable offline
— Note to not zero-suppress these channels (now 5 in total for sepd
— Detail location of boards :
Old location

4) No bit shift nor bit flip problems anymore in emcal & hcal.1 board in 1W1 having an issue on half of the channels and needs investigation.
5) New XMIT clock, event counter of 32-bit tested with the test stand in the rack room
— Further tests needed + discussions of reprogramming all XMITs (pulling out ~150 boards)
6) Plan to replace one backplane at 1W1/Crate 0 because of bent pin (Eric coordinating)
7) New PAR3, DCM2, jseb2-D boards, optical fibers & busy cables tested successfully
Extra kudos to Chi at Nevis!
8) New orders in place for ADC boards & trigger daughter cards
— 25 new ADC boards (not for this year, only likely in 2025) - Eric coordinating
— 50 new trigger daughter cards (for this year) - Eric coordinating

Best,
