Production - Chris Pinkenburg
5k high-memory condor slots available for production.
Now running: 70k jobs in the queue ~ One week, for running HCal title angle with higher statistics (x20 times)
New request on EMCal production from Jin to get the full stat electron PID plots: · 100k event per setting for electron ID focused study · full sPHENIX + full magnetic field · Momentum = 2/4/8 GeV/c · PID = e+/-, pi +/-, K +/-, proton +/- · Eta = 1, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 (+0 - +0.1 in range) · In single particle and in embedded
New request on EMCal production from Megan to get the photon performance plots: · 1k event per setting for photon performance study · full sPHENIX + full magnetic field · Momentum = full momentum range as in last production · PID = photon · Eta = 1, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 (+0 - +0.1 in range) · In single particle (already have) and embedded into Hijing
Software news - Mike McCumber, Chris Pinkenburg, Jin Huang
Went through list of new features, added to software via merged pull request since the last meeting: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aclosed
Pull request 65: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/65 Chris: why evaluator intercepted a null pointer? Mike: only NTuple maker goes through all particle. Evaluator only work on particle/hit chosen by user. For large scale analysis, user are encouraged choose make the transition at larger scale of analysis. Mike: would like to have a flag in evaluator to impose strict check of truth association.
Pull request 66: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/66 Mike: Do we have capability to Hijing DST truth info to the embedding result without conflicting index? Jin: If the need present, we need to add a simple module to merge the Hijing truth stream into embedded production output. It can be done because Hijing truth was removed at the very end of embedding production, which allow them to be inserted back without confliction. Nevertheless, need to check the sync between DST streams in the module.
EMCal pre-CDR studies - Jin Huang
Page 4: Craig and John: good to change label to "using sPHENIX Geant4", instead of "in sPHENIX Geant4". Action Item [Jin]: update the label in pre-CDR
Martin: what does it means "no fiber/fiber response"? Jin: means not simulating the fiber-to-fiber variation of light collection efficiency.
Page 7: Chris: what will be the configuration for calorimeter that are possible/would be build? Jin: if we verify the design, we can produce the fiber matrix based on the simulation by design consistent screen.
Page 10-12: Jin: page 10 show comparison of eta~0.3 (one of three data set) since that is the data provided to us from Oleg. If need to compare more, we need to further request. John H.: do we concern about the constant term? Jin: they appear to be intrinsic to the choice of sampling structure as shown in the left bottom panel in page 11. They would show up in the performance in photon unfolding performance.
Page 14: John H.: what about hijing trigger? Craig: different algorithm than pp trigger described here. Need another discussion.
Page 16: Carig/John H.: how do we use these data? RMS on hijing background would be too high due to the long tail. The mean probably not useful directly to quantify the background effect. Need photon embedding and unfolding to quantify the exact effect. Megan: will analyze data from the embedding production.
Page 17: Action Item [Jin]: Working with tracking expert to update tracking projection: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/69 Action Item [Chris]: Hcal azimuthal bin seems shifted by 0.5 tower. Probably related to choice of the phi angle start setting to be bin center or bin edge. Need to fix.
