Announcement: the next sPHENIX simulation meeting (Dec 15) will be merged into HCal workfest (https://indico.bnl.gov/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=1580 )

Several recent pull request: Mike McCumber
Recent pull requests: · Optimizing evaluation speed: o https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/90 · Update threshold for tracking modules o https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/91 o https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macros/pull/8 · For forward Hcal simulation, better handling of missing nodes o https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/93 · Introduce separate setup macro for four tracking options o https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macros/pull/7
pre-CDR tracking performance check: · Working on performance update on tracking in cylinder to establish baseline reference performance. · Initial look show concern on simulation with pixel + strip. Purity cross over at pT = 4GeV. Early result appended to the agenda. Still in tuning. · Require further work to revise new results for the pre-CDR configuration · Talking to Tony to verify.
Jin: why does efficiency started with only 60%? Mike: from dead area:. (92% first layer, 72% 2nd layer, + outer strips dead map)
Jin: what caused the shape of vertex residual Mike: Horn-like shape on Z-vertex residual comes from the fixed vertex location (z = 0cm) and fixed pitch on strip detector. Will try with smeared vertex which should smear out this shape to a more Guass-like residual
Database – Chris Pinkenburg
Option to support setup based on database or local file. Started with inner Hcal. Code is already submitted. First use of database need administrative init setup. Handling is still evolving.
Discussions: · Will support local cache locally to run outside RCF without database support. · Negative run number may be used for standard simulation setup. · We should not save the field map, which can get very large. We could save the MD5 or orther ID for the field map in order to reproduce a simulation via DST.
Action Item [Chris, Jin]: try it out on Outer Hcal and EMCal too.
Hcal update : Abhisek Sen
Page 3: timing cut is on the hit level
Chris/John L.: the high-side response significantly changed after timing cut too. John H.: probably due to e/h affected by timing cut. John L: suggest repeat the terminology used in pre-CDR to quantify the tails.
Action Item [Abhisek]: try quantifying the tail after timing cuts
Chris: probably better apply the map after PHG4Hit. Mike: if we apply light correction on the integrated path of PHG4hit, we loss the information for ionization fluctuation. Abhisek: some hit do have long path (see slide8). Conclusion: we use G4hit for testing applying light collection map. But we probably want to implement final light map on stepping function.
Action Item [Abhisek] : Temp. save local coordinate in G4hit to give a try to figure out the mapping of local coordinate to the light map.
Slides 8: Abhisek: 20% hit goes longer than 2cm in path length in PHG4Hit John H.: long path length particle probably MIP through scintillator, may not involve large energy deposition.
Page 9: Chris: be careful that at different pseudo-rapidity, radius are corresponding to different path length
Chris: where >100ns hit come from? Action Item [Abhisek]: will look into hit distribution.
Jin: Can we verify the timing tail in the test beam data? John. H. : we can take many more ADC sample in test beam to investigating timing distribution. But usually the amplitude drop to below sensitivity quickly.
Prototype simulation: Xiaochun
Fixed geometry confliction. Uploaded to GitHub for preview: https://github.com/phyxch/coresoftware/tree/HcalPrototype2
