Software update:

Jet QA from Jin Huang:  https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/105

Suggestion:

Dennis: finer binning for tower constituent.

Mike (offline discussions): suggested a better definition for unique jet matching

Action Item [Jin]: update accordingly.

Uniform vertex smearing for HEPMC inputs from Mike McCumber: https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/coresoftware/pull/106

Conclusion: merge.

Prototype update - Murad Sarsour

Page 3:

Jin/Sarah: what is the black points?

Murand: center of scintillator from Richie’s drawing

Murad: tension of bottom plate

Chris: what are plotted as red curves?

Murad: Geantino entry/exit point scan in Geant4.

Page 10:

Murad/Jin: as the thickness of absorber and scintillator plates remain the same during this test, the sampling fraction (SF) would not change in the leading order

Gabor: for small sampling fraction, plot 1/SF may be more informative than plotting SF.

Conclusion:

Action Item [Jin, Murad]: look for help from Richie and Chris to resolve the difference on the bottom plate location.

Action Item [Murad]: send the code and macro to GitHub to prepare for merging

Fast calo sim for tracking study: Kurt Hill, Ron Belmont

Page 4:

Kurt: "No electron separation" means no em-hcal layers separation in shower response in simulation

Many: suggest use particle ID in Geant4 to simulate difference of EM and hadron segment of shower response

Page 6:

Kurt: where the lib would come from.

Jin: good to use the production batch of 1000 particle sampled in 400 configurations,

Dennis: instead of fast sim of parameterized calorimeter simulation, we can try merging single batch of calorimeter G4 simulation production and newly run tracking G4 simulations.

Many: this is a very good idea. Need careful treatment of synchronization and the caveats of merging truth information.

Conclusion: start simple with Method 1.

Kalman Filter exploration: Haiwang Yu

Summary: Haiwang is looking into generic Kalman filter algorithms including Geant4e integrator and GenFit interface package. With help from Dr. Kun Liu (LANL), Haiwang is able to run Geant4e under a SeaQuest implementation.

Haiwang: Geant4e carried a bug before, which is fixed in the current Geant4 version used in sPHENIX RCF.

Dave, Mike: Rave has an interface to GenFit too.
